Now that the daily Volvo is gone I need to double down on the 740.

Started the external pump today, new filter, new rubber isolators.

The wee fitting between the filter and pump bottomed out on the new pump check valve before sealing, so I just used the old one.

Noticed my number plate mount is off, usually I wouldn't care but so many right angles I can see it haunting me!

So instead of actually doing something to make it run I got distracted lol.

Using the same rusteoleum stuff used on the charge pipes, saving my sem trim black for the trim;)Screenshot_20240324_122341_Gallery.jpg

In tank pump time, not as bad as on the 240's

First unplug the sender

Then lift the trim panel covering this, flatten the seats and 3x13 bolts to remove.

T30 hex for the plate bolts.
20240329_111534.jpg

If yours is like mine it's a mixed bag of hose clamps 7mm socket works wonders and T20 hex bolt clamps- used a bit driver on a 10 mm ratchet to handle these easily.20240329_111647.jpg20240329_111906.jpg

I learned the hard way before to have the right tools to take off hoses, this red handled thing is gold!

Just removed the lock ring with a screw driver and hammer.20240329_114402.jpg

Unplug the wiring and punch the bung through the bulkhead.20240329_114404.jpg20240329_114958.jpg

Here's what greeted me 20240329_115440.jpg

Ordered a replacement unit off eBay!

To be continued...

Something that has been bugging me for ages is the rusty bottom driver's door hinge.

Today was a soft day, threatening to rain but warm enough to get a few coats of paint on the roof repairs.

Figured I'd focus on the jobs I knew I'd leave on the longer finger once I gwt it running/ driving.

First the paint, roof sections and touchups around the car.

2xhigh build primer, 3x top coat and 2x lacquer.
20240331_100113.jpg20240331_100122.jpg

Then moved onto the door card fitting and the rattly tailgate repair kit

Went at the in tank pump, first round I couldn't get any juice out of it, so took it out and bench tested things, zero issues so rechecked grounds, cleaned the contacts and bingo !

Throttle stuck open on start-up but didn't throw any rods so yay!

So that lovely trans to rad line that cross threaded has come back to haunt me and I need to find and mount the radiator fan switch.

Then brake calipers in rear need replacing, pads, lines etc!
