Just skip the rubber and go Superpro poly. I've had full poly in my 122 for years and never had an issue. Pretty sure it was just whatever IPD sold and not even superpro.

Never mind. Turns out the short-side cable housing from an Explorer fits a 122 pretty much perfectly. Pretty easy to make the Ford cables work once the housing is in place.

They were the correct type, just aftermarket...

They were the correct type, just aftermarket replacements and not SU parts. We were able to rig it up to get home and then I replaced them.

I did finally get this car running good again with a "rebuilt" pair of HS6 carbs. By rebuilt I mean the ebay seller said so and then last year both jet tubes fell apart about 150 miles from home....

Even with a single straight-thru muffler it’s gonna be pretty loud. I’d agree as close to the exit as possible will be ideal. There really isn’t anywhere to put one other than the factory location...

I don’t think there’s really a step between SUs and DCOEs. SUs can support more power than most b20s are going to make anyway. It really wouldn’t be worth the effort.

I’d guess you can get in there well enough without removing the oil filter arm. Stick the drain fitting in the freezer and it should tap in there pretty easily.
