FWIW those spacers work with the stock studs on my car but the nuts really are flush with the end of the studs.

I used that as well last year. Still sticking to...

I used that as well last year. Still sticking to the trim well but I spray it with the hose very gently while cleaning just in case. The biggest PITA was taping everything off.
