the crush washer is one-time. the plug is multi-use.
the threads should not be damaged unless they're being cross-threaded upon install.
get a thread chaser and clean up the threads on the pan.

abs light came on pretty steadily for the few days following that attempted "fix". during that period, i had no problem with the brake shuddering, no symptoms.
the light was not on at all...
