66 122 - The car I shouldnt keep but like too much

If you're doing PC, then I agree that you're fine with whatever you prefer. This car had a PC'ed grill, since I couldn't find anyone capable of polishing the aluminum 5 years and many states ago.

Fun and noticeable changes like those are the best!

yeah exactly. Lots of little free stuff like that adds up adds up

Just now. I decided to replace the rear panel for Davis. I knew there was tons of bondo there but jeezz dude. The driver tail never fit well. The fuel filler surround is pushed in... lots of cracking. I got tired of looking at it... maybe I'll get to the trunk replacement also.

Need to drop the fuel tank

I'll take better pictures tomorrow

there was 1/4-1/3 inch of bondo in places

keeping the inner support panel - got spot welds out

this is on the replacement piece - Im sanding down the left over panel. I'll have to repeat the same thing on the car.

old panel out - tomorrow i'll be sanding the remaining panels and hopefully welding everything back on

Hit the inner portion of the panel with some acid or rust treatment. Good on you for doing the work properly instead of slapping body filler in there and making a Bondo sculpture.

What are you using to drill out spot welds ? The HB tool or a regular drill bit ?

Good on you for fixing it. I think all old body work is just get it close with the snatch hammer and slather the bondo on.

For sure on rust converter. Thanks I enjoy welding and I have the parts to fix it right. Got some good drill bits from Fastenall as they are 2 blocks away from home rather than ~10 Harbor Fake is

I only drilled out the spot welds on the inner panel. All others I cut close to the seam and sanded it down with 40 grit pedicure wheel

Your body work is incredible. Looks really nice!
Thank you for your kind words. Keep the thread going is making me work more on the car also;-)

Thank you
Not many wanted these even few years ago, bondo is a whole lot cheaper than actual body work

Super hot today - 88F - goodbye spring in Butte Co. :-(
Finished grinding down the car and replacement panel. Sprayed it with rust converter. It says to wait 24h but I should be fine in a few to paint with primer. Next I need to drill holes on the bottom of the replacement piece

this gives you an idea on how Im removing the old sheet panel without drilling out the spot welds

What do you call a pedicure wheel ? Looking at your tools, it looks like we're using the same things on your Amazon and my blue 1800S. I think 90% of what I cut turns itself into a 1/4 inch layer of pulverized metal and rust and lays itself all over my garage.

same here, stuff gets everywhere too

no used replacement panel would be normal without some sort of damage. The filler neck hole was a little off

waiting on primer to dry, I went and drilled welding holes

test fit - current trunk is all dented up. I pulled one from my burned coupe because there's no dents. My other 3 all have some issues
