It'll buff out? 242

23 days...

21 days...

I'm taking a break from my painting carrier. I called in a request for help. I'm wanting this aspect of the project done. My paint gun is too old to get parts for and the 9.99 HF guns are 0 for 2. Cant afford the money for a good paint gun. When times get better (health improves and I can get back to work) I will buy a decent gun. Had offers to borrow guns and I am really uncomfortable with that so I passed.

Check out Trev?s Blog on youtube ... some awesome easy to understand body working techniques

Car is coming along nicely

I watched just a few minutes good stuff! Thanks!

I do think I will drive to IPD in this beater, just for fun and the Bertone has a really clunky BJ. So I hope to be in the either shiny quarter panel 242 or the primer colored quarter panel 242.

Picking up a red seat while at IPD so I am happy about that. Still trying to figure out the sewing machine as I will have to make two into one. LOL Wish me luck!

Boring update! Buddy gave me a Mac spray gun.
After I called in help. I'm still good having a pro paint the top coat. He said it was ready less one low spot that was a bit much to fill with primer.
Fixed that and primered another coat. (Thanks Adam!) This was after I spilled the last of my primer! Splashing my pants and shoes etc.
Good thing my local Brew pub is just down the street from the paint store.
Got the Bertone covered and almost ready for tomorrow afternoon. It'll still be a beater, but a 10 footer? I don't care, just want to drive it.

Had Henry spray today. Did a great job.
Color is close but it ended up satin?
Not sure why but it is done for now.
Didn't spill anything today!

That's quite a collection of welding helmets on the wall....... another obsession?

Congrats on paint; you've probably got a nice 10 footer, especially if you leave the paint "satin".

Enjoy driving the 2 door

Just sort of happened on the helmets. Should be grinding helmets.lol
10 to 15 footer.

Looks great, some would have walked away from this one, congrats on saving this 242!
Thanks, I am still thinking about my next move.
I will drive it as is for a bit. It's needing a few things still. But that's the game we play.
Next one will be less needy!

Could have been an issue with the paint gun setting. Too much air and not enough paint.

Maybe? More so if I painted it. Henry seems to know his stuff.

It'll buff out.[/QUOTE

Yep, wet sand and buff the whole car.

Nice work Grasshopper.

. not sure I want to buff it. Remember the VW with different color panels? That's what this car reminds me of. LOL. The car wants a complete respray.
LF fender and hood are poorly repainted.
First things first. Tires are shot. Not going to IPD with these tires. Probably swap with the Bertone for now.
Needs OD! Eddie was looking at me like" What the hell? Shift!"

My love has grown cold on the daily driver idea.
Not just because the exhaust mods that happened over 100 miles from home.
I'll have some fun with it then move it.
Funny at IPD they auctioned an exhaust system and I thought to myself, hmm I could use that, nah.
I should have left over pieces from the Bertone exhaust that I can patch it up.
Open exhaust at freeway speed with no O/D was brutal! Had to stop for a brew, which was dog friendly.
All the running around meeting people for parts dealing kept me from BS'ing with anyone for too long. Overall a really good time!

Other than the fact that it's a M45 car with a blown up exhaust, what needs changing before it'd be a nice daily?

I think it's more me than the car. Just gotten used to creature comforts. Even with O/D it would still be lacking A/C and P/S. It's pretty light so it's a sporty ride, not bad or harsh just not the road trip ride I'd prefer.
Once I patch the exhaust I will drive it as is.
Oh yeah the driver's seat needs tending to.
Funny thing is it's rather comfortable considering how much foam is missing.
Have a better seat to repair mine with.
Now I have that blue seat I don't need.
