Ok, I have in my hand new IPD poly sway bar end link bushings which will be put onto my '89 244 dl. Then I got to thinking, what would be the easiest way to push out the old bushings and push in the new ones without destroying my endlinks in the process? I assume they fit snugly inside the endlink, and I really don't want to cause more damage than I have to. Any respnses and advice is appreciated, thanks!

If you need any tools to remove sway bar endlink bushings, once the end links are disconnected, you need to hit the gym. I am 6'7" and only 180lbs and have never had to press out an end link bushing.

SST: your fingers, and possibly any pair of channel locks, will do the trick.

Haven't taken the old ones off yet, and I wasn't sure if it was just going to be a pain to get them out or not...

They should slide right off with one finger on either side and a solid yank.

This style, that goes inside the loop on the right side of the endlink below?

Or the squishier rubber version?

Out should be: cut off one side & punch the rest out.

In would be: remove the metal sleeve, LOTS of lube, long bolt, nut, washers, big socket, maybe something metal & funnel-shaped to squeeze it while pushing it in, like a piston ring compressor, just smaller. A piece of tin can & a hose clamp?

The poly blue ones are what I am putting in, the old ones are original 23 year old volvo rubber.

If you dont have a vice or a press, sauce it up real good with silicone and use a couple of pliers to squeeze it in. Be careful to apply pressure to only the metal sleeve and non threaded portion of the endlink. If that doesnt do the trick, a deep well socket that clears the threads but contacts the sleeve, and your weight will work.

Simple enough, thanks... I am planning to do this in the morning before I go to work... Hoping for a ncie and simple in and out job.
