hi all, i am doing a head gasket replacement on a 940T with intentions to modestly increase it's power down the road. I got the head resurfaced flat, but there are still a couple corrosion spots present on the head:

should I be concerned enough to just get a new head? the main corrosion point, under the thermostat housing (second pic), appears to be about 1mm deep or so. there are a couple other corrosion spots pictured in #3. this is my first head job so i am not well-versed in how to assess the quality of the head and determine if it is worth using or not. But i appreciate any thoughts. thanks.

It should be fine, but I'm on the other side of the computer. Where does the fire ring (steel ring) from the head gasket sit in relation to the worst corrosion? If they overlap... that's not going to be good.

Ladies and gentleman, this is why you should change your coolant.

they do not overlap. sits about 1-2mm away. i'm gonna run it and pray!

yeah, the PO was definitely using straight water.... corrosion in the coolant passages. not even distilled water....

I too have had a shop fix stuff like that. Up to and including welding the surface of the head. Then machining it flat to match the head. I had that done on a marine 531 head and he also rebuilt the no. 4 exhaust port.
