T5 swap clutch question (STS FW, Ford disc, Viggen PP)

Question first then background: Is this the correct gap between a Viggen pressure plate (PN: 3082302731 ) and flat flywheel before you bolt in down with spacers. I dont have spare bolts on hand but this looks excessive.

Background:

Im doing a T5 swap and have followed what ive read on various other posts about using a STS machining flat flywheel (Ive got lh 2.4) along with a Viggen pressure plate and ford 9 inch disc.

I have the correct dowl pin location and the pressure plate lines up, but with the disc in place sits quite far away from flywheel. The dowl pins don't even touch the pressure plate.
I have new bolts on the way and will try adding spacers but want to know if this is normal for those who have used this combination.
 
That?s normal.
You?ll want to use some washers that are ~.040in thick. I used some "1/4in" washers that had a 5/16" inner hole diameter, and it worked great.

Saab viggen FW is dished 1.6mm, and uses a 7.7mm thick disk. This results in a pressure plate friction surface to flywheel surface spacing of 9.3mm.
The Ford disk I used was 8.1mm thick (clamped), so 9.3-8.1= 1.2mm of spacer that is needed.

Well months later I have been running with spacers according to this formula but now my clutch is on its way out, I'm looking at getting a new one made by CalifoniaClutch. Just to double check would I go with a 9.3mm thick disc?
 
Months later? Geez my stock 90 745 with m46 lasted 425 thousand miles before clutch disc needed.. I did blow up a flywheel after 10 runs in a row at PIR, totaled the car. Stock dog dish lightened flywheel exploded with ceramic clutch disc slippage..

I've seen the aftermath video, It gave me nightmares when I had my old very worn dogdish

Well it died after installing the G80 last weekend and maybe possible trying to race a Q50. But don't worry I'm not an idiot and defiantly didn't leave out the input shaft seal and covered it in transmission fluid or anything...

The words 'stock' and 'lightened' seem to be at odds there.

Seems like most of the dogdishes I've heard about exploding were lightened in some way.

Lol... that clutch had no hope.
Is it behind a turbo engine?
 
For what it's worth, the rally car now uses a 6-puck ceramic disk and the same (reused) Saab PP. It would initially slip around 25psi on the gtx2860, but it's holding after a few races at lower boost pressure. It's been up to 28 psi without issue now. As far as torque or HP, I have no clue, but it's a decent amount.

If you want the same disk, Spec built it and I can give you the part number/details. I think it was just $130 for the disk. I resurfaced the flywheel and PP with a rolloc sanding disk.

Please do send me that, sounds a lot better then slipping after hitting boost in anything above 2nt gear. Are you still running any kind of spacers?

I don't have the exact part number with me at the moment (would have to dig through some papers), but if you contact them through their website or email specsales@specclutch.com and ask for:
"Clutch disk: 228mm (9") diameter, 8mm(5/16") thick. Ceramic 6-puck with a sprung center. Ford t5 splines, 1-1/16" x 10 spline."

It was $135 plus shipping. I had the disk in ~ 3 days from first contact. :omg:

I haven't had a chance to get find the part number yet. But if it it's made to the dimensions I posted, it'll fit.
 
I may get the “racer” discount from them, as it was for a race car.

California clutch quoted me $250 for a disk, so now you have the high end :)
