Bricky McBrickface Build Thread

Hey, figured I'd start a build thread and track my progress.
Located in Lethbridge Alberta.

Overall, the car is pretty decent shape.

Plan for the car is to just get it to be a nice clean daily driver cruiser. I wanted a cruising car while I rebuild an engine for my mustang. Once that car is back on the road, then maybe I'll do more heavy modification on this car.

Done so far:
-New taillights (fixed broken lights)
-Headlight bulbs (fixed highbeam issue)
-Acquired and installed rear driver trim
-Air filter replacement
-Acquired and installed license plate lights (not working, wiring needs repair)
-New front speakers
-Door sensors
-LED dome lights
-Oil change
-Seafoam
-Fixed reverse light (didn't replace sensor, was unplugged - wiring needs future attention)
-Recharged AC
-Bought and replaced some interior clips
-New license plate bracket (modified to 2 bolt)
-Painted brake calibers bronze
-New wheels
-E code headlights

To do list:
-Replace hatch. Only real rust on the car, have replacement hatch from older 240. Just need to paint and install.
-Rear gate wiring. No wiper, defrost, unlock, license plate lights. Have passenger IPD harness, planning on making drivers side. Doing at same time as hatch replacement.
-1 door door not central un/locking
-Fix heated seats
-Timing Belt (have parts)
-Rear hatch panel repair
-Polish/paint correction
-Clean/paint parts
-Front lip repair
-Cruise control lever. Previous owner replaced lever with cheaper level w/out cruise, have cruise lever hanging to still allow use. Want to replace with correct lever.
-Odometer fix (have part)
-Rear hatch shocks (have part)
-Reverse light wiring

WTB:
-Cruise control lever
-Cool parts?

To do list:
-Tune up. I know the injectors and lifters are noisy, but seems a bit excessive? Trying to clean the system out, change oil and then progress deeper.
-Fix heated seats

Redblocks came from the factory with rubber valve hushers. These usually have disintegrated by now and causes a slight increase in valve train noise. They are un-necessary and many leave them out when building engines. These engines sound like sewing machines normally.
Post a vid and someone on here will tell you if yours is normal or not.

Well, there is that, or you could always just swing by...I can tell you if your engine is fine. LOL. Welcome to the forum.

I'll take you up on that haha, when are you available?

More updates:

I just got the interior detailed. Friends of friends started a mobile detail business, really exceeded my expectations.

Started taking apart my replacement hatch. Removed all components, just need to remove badges and prep for paint.

More photos to come.

I live in my garage - there most evenings. PM me if you want to drop by.

Cool. I like your wheels. Why not just paint them and buy new tires?
Its not the paint that is the issue, they are dented and curbed.

I did pick up new wheels!

Also did a few things:

Been very busy at work the last couple months, but found some time to work on the Volvo and continue to strip my mustang parts car.

A few more updates:

- E code headlights, more of a project that I expected... First they came broken from fcpeuro, had a awful experience with shipping and didn't want to send them back for replacements. Repaired them. They also don't work with NA corner lights. Had to make a custom bracket from the corner lights and do significant trimming to the headlights. Also don't use the same bulbs? Had to modify the dust boot to fit with my bulbs/connectors. Still require alignment.
- Amber reflector removal
- Fuel filter - damaged a line, had trim and put barb fitting back in. That was a real treat...
- Flame trap
- Air box - removed heater tube and cut it open for better cold air flow.
- Front brakes - rotor and pads. No more brake vibration.
- Front wheel balance - no more vibration on highway
- Blue lug nuts
- Hella Horns - Doesn't sound like a boat anymore
- Engine bay detail and paint

E-code - tabs don't work with NA corners. Can to trim them off and make my own bracket for corners.

My custom bracket. A bit roadkill, but used what I had. Worked well.

Hellahorn - not so boaty... Well still a boat, but doesn't have a boat horn anymore.

As it sits now! Really happy with how it drives. Would like to improve the starting, it always starts but randomly a little rough? Just going to continue to clean and do preventive maintenance.
Once the mustang is back on the road, then I'd like to do some bigger modifications. Right now this shares daily drive duties with my truck.

Not much for updates. Have been working on the Mustang - got a large shipment of parts in for it, currently working on some porting/cleanup of the top end.

Anyways, a couple photoshoots of the Volvo I did recently.
