How does this car run out now that you have it somewhat sorted? I did the harness in it and got it running, but never road tested it.

Seems like you did good work. Runs quite well, passed smog Friday without issue and hasn't given me any troubles in ~500 miles. Has a little bit of a stumble when pressing the breaks at idle so I'll have to look for cracked vacuum hoses (maybe a booster) later but that's it.

did you have to do anything for the smog?
specs on c20 for curiosity.

Just the BB trick you mentioned. 1968 C20 with a 327 and Sm420. Might be trading it for a Volvo tomorrow (today yet again since it's 2 am). I love the truck but my wagon can haul plenty of stuff so it's time to go

Nice! As said before, I?m happy to see this one up and running. I had too much on my plate to finish it.

I did indeed trade my truck away, I held off on posting it since I hadn't decided what to do with the car until now. Picked up the most clapped 850r i’ve ever seen. Previous owners butchered a manual swap, beat the car to the ground and ****ed pretty much everything they touched, anyone need parts?

This swap was one of the idea I had in mind when picking up the 242, a whiteblock should be a lot smoother then a 8v and be nice for a DD

<a href="https://ibb.co/VDngy2z"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/HYwtvnb/20200224-154208-1.jpg" alt="20200224-154208-1" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/d2YWppp"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/58HMjjj/20200224-154356.jpg" alt="20200224-154356" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/BZ0dN4K"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/SnFWrQ7/20200224-160854.jpg" alt="20200224-160854" border="0"></a>

“Transmission swap done right” with a dual mass flywheel “Just needs an axle”....decision made.

<a href="https://ibb.co/NKx2THt"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/M7nkB3Z/20200229-154816.jpg" alt="20200229-154816" border="0"></a>

So naturally the only use for it is the motor, a B5234T5 along with 8 motronic 4.4 ecus, a spare seat set and other parts.

Picked up some whiteblock swap parts, intake and coils with some wiring, going to go with the VAST COP setup along with motronic 4.4, likly with a t5 behind it since they are $120 all day long

Made a motronic 4.4 bench harness, should be able to flash the VAST COP bin once I get my resistors in the mail

Spent a few hours Monday running around looking for hitch hardware, you'll never guess who had the right bolts . Mounted up the hitch I had laying around for two years.

<a href="https://ibb.co/7nzxkpR"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/bs3jbv2/20200301-135814.jpg" alt="20200301-135814" border="0"></a>

Wednesday I went and bought a dolly, $350 and painted with the worst paint ive ever seen, it melts at over 90 degrees and gets on everything, but its functional.

<a href="https://ibb.co/jhdQ2Qn"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Zd3FPFq/20200304-105022.jpg" alt="20200304-105022" border="0"></a>

Friday after getting some ramps (the dolly came with only one) and tire straps got the 850 load up, quite the ordeal with only 1 working battery and ramps that are too short

<a href="https://ibb.co/vVWBh7C"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/ck9vwGK/20200306-131802.jpg" alt="20200306-131802" border="0"></a>

Stopped once to tighten the straps but the tow itself was fine, you could almost forget the 4000lbs behind you.

<a href="https://ibb.co/7QTKqtC"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/w7b4fhg/20200306-135936.jpg" alt="20200306-135936" border="0"></a>

Made it home and the 242 met its new motor, and the 850 made it's last limp into the garage

<a href="https://ibb.co/BV2mRQp"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/LzdMfcF/20200306-152934.jpg" alt="20200306-152934" border="0"></a>

Then towed my buddies miata, that didn't go as well....

Spot the differences: (not my cat unfortunately, he doesn't pose well for pictures)
<a href="https://ibb.co/jDHgtF6"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/cQxDqdg/miata-cat.png" alt="miata-cat" border="0"></a>

Sunday tore the 850 front end off, test fit the Me7 intake, picked apart the wring harness until It could be run with just 12v applied to the ecu and jumping the starter wire (plus key on for the fuel pump but we'll ignore that)

<a href="https://ibb.co/Sx9pT8M"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/6Zf5hxT/20200307-213134.jpg" alt="20200307-213134" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/pvJn8PD"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/d0G7qc9/20200308-200035.jpg" alt="20200308-200035" border="0"></a>

Blasted the entire garage with oil, who puts an oil cooler thermostat valve in the oil cooler itself and not the block fittings:wtf:

<a href="https://ibb.co/17fP6C5"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/DzDvpBy/20200308-135618.jpg" alt="20200308-135618" border="0"></a>

Then pull the sub frame with the engine and trans on it, hopefully tomorrow ill wire up the coil on plug and clean up the harness. being one unit I can still run the engine and make sure the wiring is good while waiting for parts

<a href="https://ibb.co/gZHvDYd"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/60Vv4Q8/20200308-231201.jpg" alt="20200308-231201" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/0t6f6bw"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/L5cCc7G/20200308-224625.jpg" alt="20200308-224625" border="0"></a>

On a side note an item for the 242 arrived from Poland Friday, I now need a flathood, if anyone closer the Oregon has one let me know, if not I guess it's road-trip time

Homo grille came in from Poland, western union bank transfers to foreign countries are worth it some times

<a href="https://ibb.co/HG2GFsX"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/p4P408n/20200310-110307.jpg" alt="20200310-110307" border="0"></a>

Now I really need a flahood, or to become good at metal working and make the front of this one straight
Made some orders from deeworks and yoshifab last night as well, lots of aluminum on it's way

Tried to get a single mass flywheel today at the PnP but just ended up with 6 stitches. Broke an extension on a transmission mount bolt and slammed my elbow into a cut downpipe.
Looks like I've have to go back tomorrow and get the parts then

Dam, hope you are alright! Nice project!

Had to laugh at running over the can of grease. I ran over a full bottle of silver anti seize in my garage once, it popped and made the worst mess...all over the floor, the tires, everything.

Damn dude hope your ok.
What kind of extension was it? Hf?

It was indeed HarborFake, more of an adapter then a extension, and entirely the wrong size for the bolt I was loosening. I was handed it and said "this is going to break instantly"... and it did

My elbow if fine now, I was due for a tetanus shot anyways so it was a dual use trip

I can't get that stuff off my pants after using it, I can't imagine a whole bottle on everything

Few things came in the mail, gotta get the t5 tomorrow when I'm back at the yard

The older you get the more you learn to listen to that 'little voice' in your head.

My condolences though, never fun to take a hit on the job or in the field.

:grrr:

Get well soon and keep it clean.

:x:

I got a severe slash on a cut exhaust on a 240 once. What a bich. I still have the scar on my right hand. So I know that feeling very well. I always wear gloves and long sleeves to prevent these sort of injuries. I've dismantled plenty of fwd car and some of those bolts are bich to break sometimes. The last time I took one apart, it was pouring down and I was sick as dog. #junkyardlyfe

^

Every time I go to the JY it's like navagating a minefield of hazards, from sharp objects to toxic chemicals and tripping hazards.

Keeps you on your toes tho.

You'd think this would be a good wake-up call to buy better tools but I'm still asleep, swung by harbor freight again after picking up the anti-inflammatory they prescribed.
I have on the other hand learned that using the correct size tool is a smart idea, and will be bringing a jacket tomorrow.

Never heard of Kevlar sleeves before but I'll defiantly get some
