hello

Im looking at making some custom A/C lines for my 164 with its modernised a/c system and wondering whats the best way to go about this economically.

I have been recommended to use this DIY crimp style system rather than the beadlock style since the tool to make these is exorbitantly priced but wondering if these is a legitimate way to make a/c lines since ive found very little evidence of this style been used.

cheers

theres a local shop that will make any hose for cheap - like $30-50 if you bring old ends. That also includes TIG welding if you need something custom made etc

call around

When looking for "hose makers" don't just concentrate on AC shops. Look for anything having to do with hydraulic hoses too.

yes I will suss out some hydraulic shops as I reckon the ac places put a tax on for being specialists when in reality its not that high pressure compared to other hydraulic hose implementations.

the mastercool hose crimper looks like the way to go if it wasn't a once off use. I cant see myself doing this again hopefully its done right the first time. might see what a place will charge just to crimp the hoses once I do the measuring. since thats not very labour intensive the price should be far better than the first place I was quoted being $500

A hint from experience

Anything other than a straight connector needs to be positioned aligned with the other side connector and marked prior to crimping. The hose is so stiff that you cannot turn the connector more than a few degrees, maybe 5.
