4l80e POI-shift

If the combo you're building isn't too crazy I'd encourage you to stick with the stock (GM) pcm. It does a great job and is very easy to tune.
With a stockish swap it'll as simple as sending it out to get flashed, if you don't have access to HPTuners.
The stock harness can be pulled with the motor and the 60e harness can be made to work with the 80e.

If you are going with the cheapest engine you can find it'll probably be a 4.8/5.3.
Those paired with an 80e I'd also be concerned about the length of the first gear and the stock stall.

For cheap as possible - 60es will hold up if kept cool and cam only power.

So what I'm hearing is you want to buy the 5.3 I have. BTW, it's got a factory ECU and all you need to make the 80E work with it is a harness for the trans and a bit of tuning time.

You could trade me the wagon for the 142 ;-)

If you want to build it, ****ing build it. Having a thread where you want people to do the leg work for you because you can't afford a microsquirt is insulting.

I?m not asking for leg work, lol.
More so corroboration.
My bad.

If you are doing any LS swap why not run the factory ECM for the engine and 4L80E? I've been doing this standalone stuff for years like almost 30 years! I know both A340E and 4L80E controls. I run my 2JZ/A340 71' Mopar on Megasquirt with a GPIO. Ask away if you have Q's.

Scrapyard Scamp? My buddy Danny built the Mutt (69 Valiant w/2JZ/TH400) :D

Not much action since 2018 though

I've designed hardware (arduino) and software for a 4L80E controller currently running in my 77 Corvette (6.0 liter turbocharged LS). Happy to discuss automatic shifting strategies if you're interested. My automatic shifting uses load and MPH slopes to determine when to upshift, downshift and lockup. I understand you're not addressing 4L80E or 4L60E at this point, but I'm sure there's lots in common.
