Default Chassis code for 1971 Volvo 142

Hi there. I have a Volvo green-book, service manual for the 1972 140 production year. The manual's forward states the six digit chassis code for that model year as 249930, but my vin's last 6 digits are 303871. Does this mean I have a 71'?

A '72 142 will have the last 6 digits of the VIN between 249930 and 323399 which means you have a '72.

There are several visual clues as well. Flush exterior door handles, wood grain on the dash and a short handle shifter are all features of a '72.

And, if the car's autotragic, the selector lever will be on the floor, not on the column.
