While doing my trans change, I noticed that the linkage end piece (shaped like an L, item #38) was pretty loose. It could probably do about 15 degrees of misalignment in either direction, and could go maybe 2-3mm forwards and back. No issues shifting between gears, and I replaced the linkage bushings preemptively.
Question is, is this amount of play normal? Should it be rigid, or is it designed to have some forward & back give to it?
