Planning for a B230ft 16V build

Hi all, I am planning on building a B230ft with a 16v head, and wanted to have some input with my plans. I've tried to read as much as I could on TB and SS to have a general idea. So far I have acquired the head, which I feel like was the hardest part. I've never built an engine or done a swap before, but I've worked on a few motorcycles and feel confident in that department, and will have my friends who have done this stuff, as well as my dad helping me.

I am going to completely rebuild the engine regardless, and the head as well. I intend on converting it to coil on plug & running an MS3 using the same coils that Yoshifab uses, the motorcycle style ones.

I will more than likely be buying new rods & pistons, as I don't particularly want to take the risk with worn parts. Now I am debating whether or not to find a 2.5 crank & run that, but I am honestly not sure how much of a benefit it is since I can't find too much information on a built 16v b230ft 2.5. But anyways, here are my plans, with most parts being sourced from Yoshifab.

So I guess I intend on completely rebuilding the head & engine as I feel like my power goals of 300+ would be worthwhile to just get a built motor out of the way, however this is kinda where my knowledge ends, and I come to you all for input. Should I upgrade the head valves and put larger ones in since it needs a rebuild anyway? Is it worthwhile to go stroker? What turbo should I use?

Sorry for the inexperience, but I feel like there's no better way than to just go for it.

Parts I plan on:
Turbo 86mm pistons (if stroker)
158mm h beam rods (if stroker)
Redblock DSM CAS Adapter
Coil on plug stuff
rebuild springs & bearings & gaskets
regrinded camshafts from YF
YF engine / cam gears
Eaton Detroit TrueTrac
YF / DeeWorks T5 WC cross member & swap kit


I assume that the clutch & turbo are moreso going to depend on the horsepower goal, so I am not sure what to go with in that department. Again, sorry for the inexperience, but also thank you all for input and guidance, I very much so appreciate it.

edit: I intend on putting this all into a 242.

Yeah, I do not have a motor yet for this build, trying to weigh the options of a b230ft as a starting block or a regular b230f. I figure if I send the engine to the machine shop anyways, might as well just use a b230f & have them drill out the stock location for the turbo return line. I can't lie & pretend I know how to pick a turbo, or what trim size & compressor size is, so I haven't really picked a turbo out yet.
 
Same. I try to listen to these guys and see what's been done before, but you know...the whole opinions are like a$$holes thing. Wait until someone chimes in on the whole divided manifold that you CAN'T BUY ANYMORE from RSI...

I figure I am just going to have to bite the bullet & go to a local fab shop & have headers & custom intake made. On one hand, I feel like I am headed in the right direction, but on the other hand I feel like I am partially going into this blind yet still confident.
 
16v turbo manifolds are available, you just have to be okay with spending $800-1000 for one.
Decent intakes are also available, just spend $500.

For your HP reference, Harlard made 295ish whp on a 2.3 16v at 10psi using a 90+ 8v manifold and Chinese 3071 turbo.

I am fine with spending the $$$, would prefer to do it right. I assume that after the built motor NA, all the power after that depends on how much I want to spend on a turbo?

i bet those 86mm pistons might be a bit sloppy ;)

i have a dsm cas for sale if you need?

What do you ean by the 86mm pistons maybe being sloppy? Should I plan to use a different piston? If i decide to go stroker I will get the 80mm stroke pistons from YF, unless there are other pistons recommended.

In a 240, the Yoshifab adapter / 90+ manifold requires hammering (or cutting/re-welding) the inner strut tower to make it fit with anything bigger than a 13C.

Yoshifab or Sweden Exhaust would be the top choices (IMO) for a high-hp 16v turbo manifold (outside of making your own).

You can always do a basic log manifold too...depending on how large of a turbo you want to use (fender clearance considerations).

Inb4 it doesn't get done cause it's too expensive

That's why I made the thread, trying to figure out from people who have done it before & have better knowledge on the topic what is worthwhile doing & what isn't. Had a ball park range of cost, but isn't that the fun of it, keeping it all Volvo parts, haha.

You?ve identified like $10k worth of parts to invest in a car that will make 300 horse and be sometimes reliable.
