Drove bosses 242 turbo Group A. What a Blast!!!

Just took this for a drive. What a blast. The grand daddy of the new polestar that's for sure. This thing is gonna be a hit when we put it in the showroom that's for sure. It was the car featured in the 1991 Rolling mag too. I don't think you will find a better example. posted it cause I thought you guys would get a hit out of it. I also own a pristine 89 240 wagon but nothing compared to this

Nice clean stock 240 turbo.. But its diminished by calling it something its not. It is not in any way at all anything that could honestly be called "Group A"...Its stock. (just what do you imagine Group A means?)

yea it was the model homologated for group A. Only 500 were produced

A lot of manufactures did this especially where im from in Australia and also England and Europe

Fawk, this bullsh1t again.
No honeychile Group A rules from introduction till 1 Jan 1993 require 5000 identical cars to be made in a one year perios..
1Jan 1993 the number for Group A was reduced to 2500.
Group N remained at 5000--Group N being the base care that the GroupA cars originated from.

You unfortunately have been reading too much inter-net lore, most of which was written 20+ years after the fact...

Again, just what do you imagine Group A means?

That is a nice clean stock car. You ruin it by bullsh1tting about it..:oops:

Give you a hint: a Group A car is a car falling in the GROUP of engine and size classes collectively called Group A---Like Group A 1300, Group A 1600, etc
It is a class for 4 place cars competing in INTERNATIONAL competitions in either road racing or rally...

That seems to lack ALL of the things that would make it a Group A race or rally car, and a lot of what would make it even a Group N car..Things like the homologated Getrag gearbox, the suspension, the entire fuel system, the amazing beautiful intercooler, the superb AP Racing brakes...the cage..

Its a street car.
A nice clean example..Nothing more.
 
I don't think anyone is trying to say that the car the OP drove is a Group A racecar. It is by all means a street car. However it is a rare specimen being a stock flathood 242 Turbo, a model which also was homologated to become a racecar.

Nice looking car, I'm with John, it is a nice stock looking car...as is that car couldn't compete in Group A, with a lot of time and money it could be turned in a Group A racecar.

Sorry but you are wrong. Yes it is a street car but was made a certain way to be homologated to race. We had cars in Australia that were VK Group A (1985), VL Group A (1987) and VN Group A (1990) These were Holden commodores that the manufacture and Brock had to make 500 road going examples so they could be homologated to go racing in Australia and in Europe. Im not saying its a race car but that's what they called it and that's what they called a lot of cars that had to be homologated. Certain things like displacement, maybe body kit or exhaust etc would have to be on the 500 road going versions so they came under Group A rules to race

And anyone that would do that should be shot. Better to get a beater Homologated 242 and use that for a Group A build. Or, for that matter, any 242. I'm not saying you are suggesting molesting this car. :)
