Default Harlequin 245 and Dirk's splatter front spoiler? Photoshop help?

Hey Everyone,

I've got some less than perfect body panels on my 1979 245 and I'm pulling the power lock and window stuff from a 1989 244. Since I'm going through that effort I'm thinking of just swapping the doors on the car. The body colors aren't the same so I started thinking of doing a little Harlequin type paint job, just for fun.

The car is beige so I was thinking of using pastel or complementary colors to beige to color all 4 doors and front fenders.

Like I said, the doors are already going to be off the car, it shouldn't be that tough, right?

While I'm at all this, I'm thinking I want to copy Dirk and do a splatter type paint job on my GT front spoiler.

Here's some complementary colors I found, thoughts?

I was only thinking complementary colors to beige because I'm only painting the doors, front fenders, and hood. Suppose I could paint the hatch too.

Does anyone have a picture of that Dirk guy's car with the splatter paint front spoiler? All the links I've found don't have the image anymore. Google has the thumbnail but that's it.

Anyone want to do a little MS paint on my car of their idea of a harlequin?

Edit: Rouge Status-the more I think about it, OEM colors from the 70's would be pretty slick. Anyone know where I can find a list of the colors? I'm researching it now.

70's colors might have to be it, that'd be rad!

Green

Orange

Blue

Red

And the original idea from VW, there aren't that many color options.

I've thought about this, I'd really like to see it done. Would need powerful colors to look good imo, like the 70's 240 above.

Separate on cars these colors look good on 240's, putting multiple on one car, IDK. Still doesn't make what VW did with those Harlequin cars!

Harlequin VWs have only four colors.

So, all 4 of those bright, early 240 color options would be perfect.

Find the VW harlequin color chart (what door/fender/etc is which color) and follow that, but with your colors.

Voila, Harlequin Volvo.

I'm gonna do it. Only problem is I only want to paint the doors, front fenders, and hood. Maybe the hatch.

How should I go about getting these colors? Does anyone sell spray cans, or am I only allowed to get paint from an autobody place and use a spray gun?

Parts stores will mix you cans based on a colour code you give them.
