Its full electric, and I'm already counting the days until its out of warranty so I can start tuning it. CAN bus system looks like its pretty simple, so it may get a battery and inverter upgrade. 83kw isnt much but its quick. I've looked at the motor specs and it should handle 200kw at 320v how it sits, its just limited by the inverter. But I can solve that pretty easy and push it to 150-180kw without much fuss. Then I might upgrade the pack to a 55-80 kwh pack at 600v and pump it to 200kw, or possibly add a rear powertrain and have it at 180kw x2, putting down 300ftlbs from each motor....

Had some people ask me about the intake side of things... So I figured I'd explain a little. Since the b20 flange has both intake and exhaust ports, and I was tired of blowing out the gasket where the old separated manifolds shared bolts, I worked up a dxf of the whole gasket as one piece and had it cut from 304SS. From there there is approximately 8" of SS that will terminate at a flange, decided after tacking those on there that I was going to do a DCOE flange for ease of tuning runner length. The intercooler/plenum will have .75" thick flanges with velocity stack style radius, and allow me to use spacers if I feel so inclined to tune the resonant frequencies. From my math, the current runner length is around 4th wave resonant at 6500 rpm, but not many people are publishing data on boost/hemholtz that I have found, so I'm leaving the door open for tuning it. Probably wont be necessary, but hey, its all in fun. And the exhaust is a pretty straight forward 4-2 with pretty damn close to equal length from head to merge. The 2 pipes from there may be a little different, but still pretty close to equal. And it looks like I can brace it off the old alternator mounts, from below and up top... Hopefully that holds the new turbski...

next up is to finish weld all the exhaust. I'm having a friend weld up some plenum parts for me. Should allow for my plans to be on target.

Goal here is to have intake plenum/runner volume to be 1.5-2x displacement from compressor to valve, and exhaust volume to be 1-1.25x displacement from valve to turbine. Turbo is a BorgWarner EFR7163 with a .80 t4 twinscroll exhaust housing. The purpose is to have transient response close to what you'd expect from a supercharger, and boost coming in early and peaking at peak torque. So far all the number say this should be pretty damn close to what I was hoping for.
 
Well heres another update. I was able to get some time in this weekend and make the plenum and test fit everything in the bay before finish welding. Looks like I'm just a hair over my 2x displacement mark, but thats ok, I'm not going to nit pick it too much. I have some CNC parts designed that will run different coolers so I may change it up if I get some time on the mills at work.

The hood closes, just need to finish weld the plenum/IC/TB and the last 2 runners for the exhaust. Then its on to plumbing.

Still hoping that the IPD Garage sale is still on, but at this point who knows. Soon I'll be ready to fire and get it ready for the dyno.

Jurbski sounds great, looks great, and everything worked, got the water meth set points established But had some catastrophic failures. Should have known that something was up when I broke the previous header. There was slightly more blue smoke after running in an autocross event, and I should have paid more attention to that. Turns out I dropped valves on 1-4, and cast pistons plus 22psi plus 7k equals cracked pistons. Probably didn’t have the gap open enough on the rings, could have been holding on the limiter for the entire course. But it’s getting rebuilt this spring with some maxspeeding rods, forged slugs, and I’ll give it another go. Just got the head back, did the big valve thing, now I’ve got to do some port touch up and re-cc the chambers.

nope... still sitting in the garage. Had some other stuff on my plate that needed attention first. I'll be getting back to it this spring. Plan is to get it back to running again and treat it like a sore pee pee and not fuk with it for a while. I've got too many projects rolling through to have it taking up space in the garage.

They're fun. Next week I get to meet the next project, 1969 Triumph spitfire for basic been in storage 20 years tinker toy for the retired guy. Should be fun, and he just needs a basic mechanical once over before he starts tinkering. Meeting with a guy tonight to talk about how to resurrect a 59 big healey, sounds like a 15 year old restoration, but hasnt driven in 10. So more of the same. Might end up as a long term project if the guy doesnt have to discuss the cost with his wife.

But the MGA is done, just havent posted an update on the gram. 14 month restoration full frame off, nut and bolt restoration. Not quite concours but not far off, so I'm happy with it. The owner is happy, and his wife paid the bill with a smile and a hug after her first test drive, so shes not sad, and thats a good thing.

This has been my philosophy since I got mine running. It runs, drives, stops, and does burnouts. I’m not messing with it until something catastrophic happens.

Hope to see it back on the road soon!
 
Looks like I need to spend some time cleaning up the photos on here instead of the garage.

Small update..2022 brought on some great life changes. I have a new baby, and decided that I needed to be closer to home. So I took a step back from building/machining EV powertrain prototypes for Cascadia Motion and started as a CNC and welding and fabrication instructor.
