My 940: the full retard

So while the before I pulled the old engine, I went ahead and reclocked the 16t and fabricated a wastegate bracket.

Unfortunately the rain this weekend is ridiculous and I'm over it, but I have at least got the new engine in, the power steering pump back on and some of it wired up.

<a href="https://ibb.co/VSMyT8Q"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/VSMyT8Q/IMG-0824.jpg" alt="IMG-0824" border="0" /></a>

I'm going to get it running, check the compression, then move the ipd cam over to the new engine, 16t...etc etc etc.

PROGRESS!!!!

Got the new motor in enough to fire it up, did a compression test on all 4 cylinders and they all read 150 psi dead nuts (which makes me think that the harbor freight compression tester reads a little low) and fired it up with the old plugs, plug wires, and cap and rotor....So it didn't run great, but It did run!!

I also started on the 2nd caliper kit I got off of retro turbo. I've begun the running the new brake lines and putting on the calipers. The original brake lines are getting replaced while I'm at it.

So latest update,

Sooooooo...I found out why I cracked my block apparently even though they are both 10 spline output shafts the output shaft on the sn95 v6 t5 is 5/8 of an inch or something longer than the fox body V8 t5. Now you know, learn from my mistake.

So I changed out the input shaft put on the flywheel clutch etc did I take pictures of anything...no.
Nor did I take pictures of anything when I fitted the new NPR intercooler.

I did take pictures of the new aluminum driveshaft I had fabricated:
<a href="https://ibb.co/2S0Sd3L"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/2S0Sd3L/BD16-F980-9096-4-BBE-982-E-F991-D20-BF4-FB.jpg" alt="BD16-F980-9096-4-BBE-982-E-F991-D20-BF4-FB" border="0"></a>

Got it in, doesn't bind up or anything. The aluminum driveshaft was only $40 more so why not!
<a href="https://ibb.co/BPTZkkP"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/BPTZkkP/06-B226-F6-0-D90-4160-864-B-EFFB2-C4-FE2-BA.jpg" alt="06-B226-F6-0-D90-4160-864-B-EFFB2-C4-FE2-BA" border="0"></a>

Got the IPD cam into the new engine:
<a href="https://ibb.co/hRk7zxw"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/hRk7zxw/FCDB78-D6-68-F9-4513-9-F8-F-92-BF6-CE34-FC9.jpg" alt="FCDB78-D6-68-F9-4513-9-F8-F-92-BF6-CE34-FC9" border="0"></a>

and new intercooler piping with silicone joiners. No more blowing apart couplings at mountain meet.
<a href="https://ibb.co/0qgRCLv"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/0qgRCLv/E10-A4-CB6-1515-4-D07-A82-C-8-DC96114-AF8-A.jpg" alt="E10-A4-CB6-1515-4-D07-A82-C-8-DC96114-AF8-A" border="0"></a>

Next thing I need to do is finish putting on cam gear, timing belt, accessories, and accessory belt. I'm going to go visit my dad for 2 weeks but the weekend I get back I should be able to make some good progress. I'm going back and forth on delaying the turbo swap before mountain meet. I feel like I can get it done before August starts if I buckle down, but Idk.

Thats all for now, look for another update in like two weeks or so.

Made progress last week. Finished putting the valve cover back on after putting in the ipd cam, all the accessories and belts back on put the hoses on, started to pour water in and the reservoir was cracked.

Just to check if the throw out bearing needed shimmed, cracked it up to move it back and forth right quick.

I?m on call this weekend, and have been getting hammered with calls, so sometime this week doing a test drive before I upgrade the 13c to a 16t.

My goal is driving and enjoying in a month.

I did get to drive it to the gas station, discovered the crummy/semi skipping wasn?t bad gas, did some digging and it was a shot fuel injector.

<a href="https://ibb.co/QXNRBNW"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/QXNRBNW/BD50-DB07-4634-448-E-B6-D3-6322-CFD9-ED04.jpg" alt="BD50-DB07-4634-448-E-B6-D3-6322-CFD9-ED04" border="0" /></a>

Welded up the downpipe:

<a href="https://ibb.co/VNRCmRH"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/VNRCmRH/6-FF019-B4-8-B43-45-A8-BCB1-2-DE9-C361-BD82.jpg" alt="6-FF019-B4-8-B43-45-A8-BCB1-2-DE9-C361-BD82" border="0" /></a>

And it?s driving great, other than the rest of the punch list:

<a href="https://ibb.co/WK1xhnV"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/WK1xhnV/BFBEC14-B-ADB0-43-FB-836-A-8-BF41433311-E.jpg" alt="BFBEC14-B-ADB0-43-FB-836-A-8-BF41433311-E" border="0" /></a>

Getting close to road worthy and going to mountainmeet!

So it?s been a a while since my last update I?m really impressed with the before and after on the detailing, its not showroom but it?s considerably less sloppy mechanics than it was.
Before:

After:

<a href="https://ibb.co/VC2PHdF"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/GMcbsXZ/E188-B91-F-C1-E2-4-D48-92-BB-731-DF262-C188.jpg" alt="E188-B91-F-C1-E2-4-D48-92-BB-731-DF262-C188" border="0"></a>

And since my last post mountain meet has come and went, hats off to Jared again for putting it on every year, it really is a blast. My car did what it usually does:

<a href="https://ibb.co/NjfGNvJ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/C74S9cY/DB9-CDBA1-4-B21-47-D0-8195-4-A5345-EB87-BA.jpg" alt="DB9-CDBA1-4-B21-47-D0-8195-4-A5345-EB87-BA" border="0"></a>

Front driver side brake pin froze up, was a complete bitch to get unstuck. We eventually did though. At least my car looked good while breaking down.

<a href="https://ibb.co/HVqrcnM"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/nbjDXzV/B4-A8-F84-D-777-C-4-D71-977-F-1077-EA7-BE59-A.jpg" alt="B4-A8-F84-D-777-C-4-D71-977-F-1077-EA7-BE59-A" border="0"></a>

Since mountain meet I have autocrossed it and got a time 2 seconds better than my goal. With a best of 53.464. That was within a second of the current generation mustang gt and camero ss that was out there so I was ecstatic about that.

I?ve also since then put a flame retardant shifter boot on and wired the line lock, I?m trying to get out to Atlanta dragway sometime in November to see what it will do in the quarter mile.

<a href="https://ibb.co/n1GF4X6"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/R6FqtXY/E5-D9-EFD9-23-E7-489-C-A905-74-CF69-E76-B2-D.jpg" alt="E5-D9-EFD9-23-E7-489-C-A905-74-CF69-E76-B2-D" border="0"></a>

Other than that me and little bit have been enjoying driving it and going to car shows every so often.

<a href="https://ibb.co/gWqYBgk"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/jw0t14n/12176-F7-D-579-F-4001-8-D57-A385-CFF40584.jpg" alt="12176-F7-D-579-F-4001-8-D57-A385-CFF40584" border="0"></a>

Next on the docket is doing something more with the center console. I haven?t quite decided how I?m going to tackle that. I?m also continuing to go back and forth on megasquirting it.

Stuck in a rut. I want to do a winter upgrade but I’m torn between putting an 8.8 in the rear or megasquirt. I’d like more tunability because I think there’s more in the motor than the 2.4 is going to give me. The 8.8 be nice because the lunchbox locker makes it understeer ridiculous because sometimes the rear wheels will not unlock and it just plows. I am leaning more megasquirt. Thoughts? Ideas?

IMO, do the rear first because then you'll have the hardware to support the added power potential of MS.

So I dropped the trans to have a new slip yoke bushing installed because it leaks a quart of fluid every 2 weeks. Pulled the turbo off today sured up the makeshift wastegate bracket. Didn’t take pictures of **** so it may or may not have really happened. I’m gonna take Friday off to put the trans back in, FINALLY replace the brake pins, and do some tuning before the Charlotte autocross. I also bought the plug n play microsquirt but haven’t got around to installing it, gonna do that in March.
