700 Fitment advice PLEASE

Hello everyone kind enough to offer me advice!
I am looking to put aftermarket wheels on my 780. It is IRS so apparently the rear end is 10mm wider than the solid axle.
Allegedly 8x17 ET +17 rub in the back with decently thin tires, but I don?t know.
I will be going with either 16x8 or 16x7
For the 8 wide wheels the offsets available are +12, +6, and 0.
For the 7 wide wheels the offsets are 0 and -12
I would prefer to run the 8s, but I really don?t wanna roll my fenders a lot. I can run stretched tires and I can trim/roll the inner lip of the fender in the rear.
What should I run in the front and the rear?

Will the 16s have better clearance than the 17s even if they?re wider? Any advice or expertise is appreciated. Thanks,
Adam

Run the 17s if those are your 16” options. The clearance issue will be less in the 17s because they have the most offset, assuming you were planning on having the same diameter tires regardless of the wheel diameter. Your rear wheels will be poking out a decent amount with any of the 16” options.
