Speedshop's - Volvo 142 -70

I have now built a new version of the coilover and shockassembly.
Final ridehight is a cliffhanger since i need to test all of it with engine in and the whole front rack mounted on the car.
Its looking good but that has happened before too , but i hope to have it sorted.

I'm watching too. very interesting for me. Nice idea to modify the roll center. The A-arms are Volvo? looks strange to me. the upper and lower pivots fit into the mercedes spindle? How is the scrub?
In Germany it would be very difficult to get this legal on the road :-(

cheers and go on! Building and publishing:roll:, Kay

Yes the RC comes with the rules of SFRO.
That's the Swedish Car Builders Assosiation(Svenska Fordonsbyggares Riks Organisation).
They have worked ut a buildersbook with guidlines for builders to follow.
Then you make two inspektions of the build before registration.
Shortly explained.

YES the A-arms are Volvo original indeed.
No strange there but the lower are much changed due to the coilovermount.
I will have to reinforce some part of it again.

The upper arm is totaly standard.
The hole there was a misscalculation , plasmacutter before tought :grrr:
But that was only the hittingpoint of the bumpstop witch is no more anyways

The Volvos have a bit akward RC standard.
So to get bot RC and not least Cambergain when turning hard and getting roll.
Then i had to lower the upper controlarm.

Yes the Mercspindle fits on to the pivots.
Pretty tight for the nut thats locking the pivotbolts thou.
But maybe new steeringarms or somthing will help that problem.

Scrub is low right now.
Mercs have almoust no scrub standard.
Will adjust the scrub with fitting rims....
No advanced stuff.

Thats for the registration part , after that i will fit what i like to the car :-D

Not so good answers but for now thats what i have :-P

Seams to be very few that is writing anything other than me i this monolog......

I'm reading, man!!!
Please keep posting, I just bought a f***ed up 142 here in Kiev, Ukraine and facing a full suspension transplant. Looking into swapping it in from the 940.
Also trying to figure how to squeeze in a bigger engine into it. Previous owner "blessed" me with a soviet GAZ-24 (aka Volga) engine, transmission and front suspension...

Winter was looooong :wtf:

BUT........

The car is completely original yet.
Building engine , It is stripped , washed, honed and pistons is out.
Need new oil rings , so its pause for now..

Have everything except the intake and some fuelstuff.
Then, the enginestuff is completed regarding the purchases.
Finally i can finally get to turn the hold on the ratchet: mrgreen:

The idea is to map and tune the engine first.
My friends have there own engine bench and that fits well.
The engine will be test run in my Golf VR6 Syncro(4x4).
Then, when everything is ready to be paired with the new gearbox.

Some info and images may taste good .....

Some pistons.
They are measured and milled to a suitable messurement.
These are milled to the same appearance as the purchase turbo pistons.
So the only thing that differs is some little angles and curves.
Pistonroof aprox: 7,5-8mm at the thinnest point.

New clutch.
Sachs Performance pressure plate.

6-puck sinter from the KEP.

Regarding the car then ??

Thought i'd try to get it inspected soon.
So it's road legal for some summer icecreem crusing

Had no summertyres for the car.
So I took the wheels I had lying around and tires.
So i could try it out on the road anyway.

But then i burnt a fuse in the car.
So they changed it and immediately got problems.
The car was not charging , but that was fixed.

Then som test on the road.

Summer tires and rims.
I had the 17 "Canopus rims.
Right now some universal 5mm spacers behind.
But it is too tight , need more spacing behind the rims.

Need moore low on the car :wtf:.
Approximately 10cm front and at least 5-7cm in the rear.
Then maybe it looks better.

Sitting pretty far inside the wheel arches.
Right now a little high ET on wheels.
Need enough least 20-30mm spacer.

Got me a few mile test and premiere anyway.
But there was some small other errors i have to fix later.

Thank you for posting!

Are you happy with the new front suspension?
What kind of engine is in now?

Great colour and I really like the "ugly wheels" too. I'm looking for a set too, maybe on my 144?

Hope to see more of this car, cheers, Kay

Thanks for reading :oogle:

The car it self i standard , the original Volvo B20 lump.

The suspension is not on the car yet.
I want the car inspected and road legal before that will happen.
Then i have two years before next inspection.
So when i do not know but its coming.

I am not sure that its the final setup for the front suspension yet.
I think there is some changes to do before i am happy

I like the rims.
Do not really get the nickname "uglies".
I am in the "german carscene" to , and there these kind of rims are cult.
They are called "gullideckel" , flat and small holes , clean look.
I LIKE THEM :oogle:

Hope to update some time soon.
Depends on when the engine is coming together.

Nice project! Interresting to see the modifications on the front suspension. Gave me some ideas for my Amazon project where I also will have to do some mods. :)
