240 transmission swap

Hello all, I am new to turbobricks and have a few questions.

I acquired a parts car 1977 240 manual, and I am wondering if the manual transmission will bolt on to my 1990 240 (2.3) automatic. (I am looking to do a manual swap on my 1990 240)

I am open to all input, so please message if you know anything regarding the swap!

The 77 likely only has a 4 speed gearbox not a 5 speed like the later cars.

Also the driveshaft is a smaller ? and there are no provisions for a crank angle sensor in the early bell housing.

So what you?re saying is the transmission is most likely not compatible with my 1990?

It's not likely a direct swap but with some more conversion parts it will work.

Does the transmission in the 77 have one of these hanging off the back of it?

Or does it look like this?

To the best of your knowledge, what would be the easiest year 240 manual transmission to swap into my 1990 240 automatic? One that would just bolt on?

My 77 had a 5 speed.
The early bell housings are not interchangeable and don't have the provisions for a cam sensor. You could always notch it out though.
I just swapped flanges for the driveshaft diameter.
