Hood springs 740

How do you reattach the springs from the hood of a 740? Mine where taken of for paint but they need so much tightening i am afraid they will launch trough the front window.

I'm sure there is a safe way to do this..? tips?

bend the spring and insert shims in the spring coils until it's long enough to make the connection. Then remove the shims.

Have you remembered to open the hood ALL the way?
Flip the little "stoppers" on the hinges so the hood points straight up.

Who removed the springs? Can you ask them how they did it? Maybe you can reverse their method.

The painter did, Same painter that “lost” half of the car.
We are not on great terms

Car painters are almost always selling a hack-job as an actual repaint, in experience. I've only ever seen actually good commercial repaint results on the internet (where it's almost always a 10+ footer anyway because it's through a camera). Even on the fairly new BMWs I used to work on there would be poorly-matched orange peel, dust specks, crazing, etc.

Yeah my car was done in 2 parts. The body first and that was fantastic
All the panels and loos Parts he lost interest in and had peel/dust and bad sanding.. its a nightmare really. And it was a 5K paintjob where the car was given empty already
