240 / 7mgte swap

Hey Halteck , Gotta question? How to you shim the oil pump?
thanks for checking my progress.
Today I installed the turbo and I made a new plate seal out of stainless steel cause I lost the original one. Also I will be using the electric fan that comes for the A/c for cooling. It takes time but saving those bits and pieces reaaaalllyyy pays off. I just gotta get an intercooler to put it on front caus ethe one for the saab is a no-go, too wide.
Manana i will post pictures

hey Thanks!!! nice set up. Ok I will se how's my budget cause i am really trying to get with the less possible expense done, cause I really got some bills.
The bottle with the white cap is my custom made pressure washer. I dont have access to a hose so I am taking water in gallons an I squirt it with the highly modified universal solvent aparatus( coke bottle with a lucas oil cap ,lol)

Hi guys. I spent some time yesterday figuring out the driveshaft set up. I have some steel ramps and I was able to get a clearer view of what needs to be done. For now I postponed it but I remembered the trans hitting the tunnel on the right side , so i stripped the interior and removed the plastic vent and banged the heck out of it from the inside and under the car. It worked!!!!!!> it was not that much that I needed to clear. At the same time I removed the front rug and noticed a tree worth of dry leaves under the hvac system and a leaking valve. I am gonna attempt to repair it, as usual, trying to keep all under budget, except for those things that most be purchased like the INTERCOOLER and a drive shaft.
Ok see ya!!

hey Thanks, Sadly the 740 intercooler does not fit due to the engine being about 3 inches away form the toyota radiator. I am planing to reuse the saab intercooler or get one from a saab 900 which is a short one. I removed the dashboard yesterday with all the duck work and took it home for a major clean up. It has 14 years of dust and sot and it took a while to get them clean.Dashes are hard to get here in one piece so Im gonna attempt to cover it with some leather I got about 6 months before I purchased the brick.
Ok thats all 4 now,
DZ

Hey thanks for the idea . I saw in a video of a racing brick with a flocked dash. I might just do that. Also I am working in upgrading the cluster and I already have installed an RX 7 speedo cause eventually Ill change the rear end and wont have anything to read how fast Im going.
Now that all the duck work is out I am gonna start working in the wiring cause is easier to have access to all the spots needed to run everything.

Hello again. Today I went to the junk yard for about 4 hours. It was soggy and with plenty of puddles. No problem!!!, I went to look for a volt gauge I hid in a suburban and it was still there woohoo!!!. Also i was trying to figure out the driveshaft thing and after a grueling 2 hours, the solution was right before my eyes.I am using the yoke for a 94 4runner and im gonna use it inside the original VOLVO DRIVESHAFT. It seems to be just about the right fit. Also I was looking for a a tack but I did not wanna spent to much money in an after market one, like Autometer or auto gauge. So I picked up one from a 740 Volvo which happens to be a Yazaki type and matches the round hole in the cluster and with some modification it should do the job. I was looking for a 8000 rpm tach but for now is ok cause the 7mgte only red lines till about 6500. Also I picked up the upper vents cause the ones I have crumbled like a cookie. Good deal on that too including some other miscellaneous stuff. I had a $20.00 certificate plus I returned the alt core plus some rotors and taking all that to account I only spent $3.00 bucks!!!! What a bargain. Now I gotta order some flocking stuff to keep the ball rolling and hopefully next week I can finally begin the cpu wiring.
Ok See ya

Hello again . I began working on the drive shaft assembly and i noticed that the yoke is a little 2 big for the inner diameter, NO PROBLEM!!!!.
I devised a highly complex set of tools and a turn table out a an old wooden table and the old oil pump from the 7mgte. (LOL) I bought a sand disk and the picture will tell how easy it was to shave it down in order to make it fit. Oh, wait, a miracle happened on 34th street here in Chicago. I gotta an intercooler dirt cheap. I travelled an hour and 15 minutes to get it but it was worth the trip. HOPEFULLY ALL THE PARTS NEEDED are there. I continued with the wiring and if any of you need a cpu and the abs computer cheap, send me an S.O.S through here.
Ok thats all for now.

Hey Im back!!!!! Finally I got the shaft put in place after greasing all the joints and it fit perfect, in fact a lot better than expected. I also took advantage of replacing the differential seal cause the hump is damped at the bottom, a clear sign of leakage.
I removed the clutch assembly because I want to stiffen it with new welds cause it took a different shape when I was adapting it to the brick.
tomorrow I shall continue my idea of putting gauges in the radio spot cause Im planning to drop the radio to the bottom.
Today I got a master cylinder cause the one I have is leaking from the inner seal and the one I got is practically new.
I will post images in the near future.
See ya

Gauges almost done.

Hello . I finally got to finish my gauge plate and the hybrid gauge. I used the radio bezel with some plastic to fit them in place. I also used a pvc elbow to give a slight pitch to the gauges. Since Im in a budget, is inconceivable to spent 150 bucks in some gauges. Maybe in the near future Ill get the right set up. for now it will do the work, it is just a prototype till my brain clicks with something else.
Hope this week to begin wiring Is been a long process but a good one. a lot of friends are asking me when it will be done, So I say, good things come to the one who waits lol.
Ok here are some gauges.

new place

Hey all, I got a place for free!!! is about 30 min from home but it will be worth it. A friend that i helped fixed his trailer gave me a free ride for fixing the taillights and like the frase says" one hand washes the other". Now I need to finish the wiring and had to get a new airflow sensor plug cause the original one was "nice and toasty" ( grinch) and it kinda crumbled, So i got one from a lex ls 400 and is a perfect match for 3 bucks!!! woohoo!!!.
need to finish cleaning all the stuff from the garage and my basement cause I stuffed all the extra parts till i get them where the car is. I had done the driveshaft right on time cause it was the only way to drive the car up the ramp to the trailer via starter. ( i have an extra one).
I began buffing the oxidized paint on the roof and it takes a lot when is hand powered buffer.
Eventually i need to eother get it detailed or by a buffer myself.
Thats for now
See ya

I was able to install my intercooler (3x12x1
24) amd retain the factory AC. The core support bracket was removed and I installed a brace underneath the intercooler that bolted to the bumper shocks and the intercooler bolted to the brace so the core support is still solid. And the hood closes normally.

a/c keep.

Hey nice job!!! I am doing something at least to get the car running till I get a bigger one.
I appreciate your concern and time to show me your excellent craftsmanship.
all is in a budget, like Mad MAx, ( a piece in here , a piece in there) So is going step by step
Thanks for the support

Yeah no problem, and I appreciate it. Took a few days and a lot of mock up to get it right. And lets not talk about budget.... Haha
