Default cutting / fabbing oil drain pipe

Doing a turbo replacement in a '92 940 and am looking for an alternative way to attach the oil drain / return pipe.

I seem to recall someone here talked about cutting the metal pipe, removing a section and then adding rubber hose to join the two cut sections.

Is this a viable option, and if so, any tips / suggestions as to the correct hose type and how to do the job?

That is what I did for an oil drain. It has worked well for many years. For the hose I bought a length of oil rated hose 3/4" ID and a couple of clamps. I removed about an inch or so of the metal pipe. Be sure to use a high temp oil rated hose. The heat of the turbo will bake and destroy hose that isn't up to the heat. I got the hose and clamps from a local truck parts supplier.
