I have a 740 that will need some work, most immediately suspension work. I'd like to find a quality race shop that understands old Volvos, understands suspensions, and can help me piece together a package that will help me achieve my goals with clarity. The phrases "corner balance" and "digressive valving" come to mind.
Am I living in a dream world? Would it be better to find a race shop or a Volvo shop? I'm expecting a tech to weigh each corner of the car, figure out a spring rate for the front and rear, and revalve a set of shocks and struts to match that spring rate, and install everything (perhaps with a proper alignment?).
The only classic Volvo shop I'm aware of is "Town and Country Auto Repair" in Pound Ridge NY. I spoke with someone there and they did not seem interested in anything that wasn't swapping on stock parts.
