We need more BEIGE, 83 242

Looked for any parts forthe 242 at the picknpull and found a black headliner for a sunroof model, hopefully it fits over the massively thicc aftermarket electric sunroof

<a href="https://ibb.co/jLf8wjD"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/K9h5s8W/20200209-144648.jpg" alt="20200209-144648" border="0"></a>

Spend the rest of the weekend working on other volvos (anyone against multiple cars showing up in the same thread?)

Did a +t on my buddies 244, already needs a new clutch and its only at 8psi, previous/original owners said they never had it done in its 34 year lifespan
<a href="https://ibb.co/Lg4ZkF7"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/gWsRj2K/20200210-025320.jpg" alt="20200210-025320" border="0"></a>

Started a black interior swap on my wagon, now to tint the windows in 2 cars

Crusty, oily and kinda tan:
<a href="https://ibb.co/54tMq08"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/2hmnX9t/20200210-143000.jpg" alt="20200210-143000" border="0"></a>

Black and clean, anything dropped on the ground is now invisible in the dark:
<a href="https://ibb.co/KDthcTZ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/W0r5Nm9/20200210-150400.jpg" alt="20200210-150400" border="0"></a>

Is two cars in one thread actually frowned upon? Or too confusing? They are both Beige so it seems to fit for me

This is on my 1989 245, I would make another thread but i'm already pretty far into this car

<a href="https://ibb.co/hRX0jzn"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/WWDCwJd/THEBRICK.png" alt="THEBRICK" border="0"></a>

Pulled a set of black door cards from storage to match the carpets, a little crusty and water damaged
<a href="https://ibb.co/s3xzRqf"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/0J4v2r7/20200211-103043.jpg" alt="20200211-103043" border="0"></a>

Painted them up with some moisture resistant paint, should stop any more rot
<a href="https://ibb.co/m4whLhZ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/kXfqRqb/20200213-094615.jpg" alt="20200213-094615" border="0"></a>

Much closer to a black interior, need the seats and rear carpet to finish the look
<a href="https://ibb.co/kx2ctW6"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/80g8HS4/20200213-112542.jpg" alt="20200213-112542" border="0"></a>

In come a set of WRX seats, because sliding across the seat every turn is a little annoying
<a href="https://ibb.co/4FM8G4s"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/nwf7vQ3/20200212-162020.jpg" alt="20200212-162020" border="0"></a>

Don't worry ill get back to the 242, but need to get the wagon ready for some spirited driving

Dude! Didn't realize there was someone else in Chico on this board! I'm glad there's someone else close by to help me bother Jack:lol: I'm interested to see out the WRX seats work out, I'm in a similar predicament:lol:

Neither did I! I try my best but everytime I go over there I end up funding his addiction by buying parts.

Lots of WRX seats nearby on Facebook marketplace, I'll let you know how it goes

Finished putting the WRX seats in the wagon today, look great and made a huge difference in driving feel. I no longer slide whenever I corner at over 6mph

<a href="https://ibb.co/2sKDSVz"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/NmY8rD0/20200219-172456.jpg" alt="20200219-172456" border="0"></a>

Mounted by cutting off the WRX mounts and welding flat steal from rail to rail, drilling holes in the front and welding the 240 mounts to the back

<a href="https://ibb.co/t34ckrV"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/8X02TZ1/20200219-170655.jpg" alt="20200219-170655" border="0"></a>

The 240 rear mounts can be pulled/pryed/cut out of the rail and have a nice flat spot perfect for welding. They hang off a little more then I would like on the drivers side but still had a good bit of area to weld to

<a href="https://ibb.co/gZVXH7V"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/d4g31cg/20200219-170702.jpg" alt="20200219-170702" border="0"></a>

The wrx rails work great to move back and forth, much less sticky then the 240 ones I have dealt with

Hope to get the 242 smogged this Friday and put in some new swaybars, cut the front springs and maybe take a look at the sunroof.

Next up is to deal with the awful headliner. The car has an aftermarket electric sunroof that is thiccer than the oe volvo ones. Because of this the original padded style headliner was ?trimmed? and a second soft headliner was added over it.

<a href="https://ibb.co/3yNnwgD"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/nscFTxH/20200221-232304.jpg" alt="20200221-232304" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/2YjB5wM"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/fGC7QbN/20200221-232307.jpg" alt="20200221-232307" border="0"></a>

The second headliner aged quite poorly and became powderized, if you barely touch it it flakes apart. Out it came leaving piles of yellow dust on the seats, steering wheel and my nostrils

<a href="https://ibb.co/QNNd6R7"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/xjjHM0K/20200222-000828.jpg" alt="20200222-000828" border="0"></a>

After pulling the old headliner the wiring was visible, with about two dozen clamps and connects, a broken switch and no power going to it I cut the wires off and pulled the battery to test the sunroof, and it worked!

<a href="https://ibb.co/fMLDWNv"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/nrtPy1C/20200221-234313.jpg" alt="20200221-234313" border="0"></a>
<a href="https://ibb.co/4YfMwpG"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/k9y0VXf/20200221-235049.jpg" alt="20200221-235049" border="0"></a>

Opens and closes beautifully, rails work great and it even pushes up into place well. Just need a new rocker switch, maybe one for the dash maybe I?ll put it back on the headliner again

Speaking of headliner time for a new one, everything I have read said to remove the rear window, but with both seats out in a 242 it is able to fit with minimal bending

<a href="https://ibb.co/m6M5nHB"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/2gf3zj6/20200222-000831.jpg" alt="20200222-000831" border="0"></a>

<a href="https://ibb.co/q0jGCN5"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/xmLvY1H/20200222-002121.jpg" alt="20200222-002121" border="0"></a>

Found a spare trunk key and free glove under the passenger seat, no goodies under the drivers

<a href="https://ibb.co/5kRzPtQ"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/W02dLqr/20200222-001133.jpg" alt="20200222-001133" border="0"></a>
The new headliner fit in place ok. It was a little tough to get on with the thiccer aftermarket sunroof assembly but it doesn't bulge the headliner visibly

<a href="https://ibb.co/HH0RFG7"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/bKxYWN1/20200222-010454.jpg" alt="20200222-010454" border="0"></a>

The area around the original sunroof crank was a little different and had to be cut out, but should look fine with some double sided tape

<a href="https://ibb.co/nR9JkBq"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Tr63h1D/20200222-010448.jpg" alt="20200222-010448" border="0"></a>

Speaking of cut:

More tomorrow/later today when I get spring compressors

We need to have a true Northern CA drive and meet...

Just hang out at your local PnP and your bound to meet someone here

What was that headliner from?

I snagged it along with the black carpet and trim bits from the black 244 turbo in the rancho yard.

Finished cutting the springs, the car sits way nicer now. Just two coils in the front, didn't touch the back

~27 inches before:
<a href="https://ibb.co/jGQ5hJw"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/jGQ5hJw/20200220-200653.jpg" alt="20200220-200653" border="0"></a>
~25 inches now:
<a href="https://ibb.co/P9VTmJ5"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/P9VTmJ5/20200223-143903.jpg" alt="20200223-143903" border="0"></a>

Also added some 5mm spacers to the rear, 26mm offset just fits but the rear tires out a bit making it look a little better imo

<a href="https://ibb.co/kSyP9qy"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/6WZq1DZ/20200220-212920.jpg" alt="20200220-212920" border="0"></a>

Threw on a Turbo rear sway aswell, would have done the front but I need to order bushings. When underneath I was greeted by a dented oil pan, glad they are stamped and not cast (BMW you ****s)

<a href="https://ibb.co/5RGMzWx"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/9rc8f93/20200221-221255.jpg" alt="20200221-221255" border="0"></a>

Sitting pretty now after a wash aswell, might wax it tonight

Anyone wanna buy the blue c20?
