Got a set of the STS Machine engine and transmission mounts. Bought a wrecked 2001 Camaro SS after the owner did a burnout in a parking lot and promptly totaled it into a concrete abutment (3 weeks ago, its going to be a short swap):

Goodbye Redblock (everything is for sale!):

Trans fluid still looked good in the AW71 (only 12k on it):
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/24902802360/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160130_112121985"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1658/24902802360_67d517d37b_k.jpg" width="1152" height="2048" alt="IMG_20160130_112121985"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

1168 block = LS6, so I can run the LS6 PCV system instead of the useless valve cover vents:

Finished the harness tonight and dropped off my sending unit with a friend to have Dorman quick disconnects (3/8" feed, 5/16" return) welded on. Waiting on the hydraulic shop to finish hose fitting change from Camaro 16mm male to Volvo 14mm banjo.

Need to weld -AN fittings onto the stock trans lines, then I can fire. Hopefully next weekend if this week works out. Then taking my driveshaft to Spartanburg to have Carolina Driveshaft put a slip yoke on it for the 4L60E. Then a trip to the Chevy dealer for a recharge and the daily is complete.

What's the plan for that redblock?

Keeping the fuel system for another 245 that I have (that needs a new pump and lines), keeping the cooler for the 4L60E, rest is for sale including harness and ECU + chipable EZK.
Also have a full Do88 intercooler and piping kit with water meth setup. TiAL QR. 3" MAF.
It made decent power, dynoed at 274 whp but in December in CT so pretty favorable conditions.

Its an 87,000 mile AW71 that I've put about 12-15k miles on.
200,000 mile B230F +T that I was daily driving with A/C. A or B cam, sorry can't remember. 440CC Bosch injectors. I'll probably sell the whole exhaust since the plan for the LS1 is dump + muffler under the passenger fender in front of tire.

Badass, great to see another wagon with an LS swap. Good job scoring an LS6!

Can you PM me what turbo you have on your redblock? Are both redblock ECU's chipable? Might be interested. Same with injectors.

My PMs are filling up fast with requests ha. It's a T04/T3 bought from someone from Canada on here. Was freshly rebuilt when I got it.

All fuel ECUs are chippable. This is a turbo ECU, -951. It's a pink EZK I think, chippable.

Only 5% of 2001 LS1s had an LS6 block, and I'm a pretty unlucky dude so this was unexpected.

looking good! Sounds like a fun swap.

Thanks!

Hydraulic shop is slowing me down, they probably won't be done until Friday *EDIT: Monday*. Trying to get the car wired by the end of today/tomorrow since I've got an all-day registered skeet shoot Saturday.

So looks like FirstStart2016(TM) will have to wait until March 1st.

What would you want for those ecu's?

I'd like to wait another week trying to sell the drivetrain as an assembly before splitting things up. Thanks for the interest, I'll try to let you know next week.

Well, wiring harness is in the car and 90% connected, still have to fish the trans plug through the tunnel and make connections to the instruments/body.
I forgot/never knew the PCM wants a reverse-operation brake pedal switch to lock-unlock the torque converter and disengage my cruise control. Ordered one, shows next week.

I'll post pictures of the harness tomorrow or Friday if I remember.

Jeez awful luck, my lift broke last weekend and I just got it fixed this morning, car was stuck in the air for quite some time before Rotary service could get here. One of the safety latches was not retracting, and the pump failed at the same time. So it was wedged on the stops and I couldn't lift it to disengage them. And my friend, who I will never contact for help again, took nearly 2 weeks to weld my sending unit.

Excuses excuses.

Finished fuel:

Kept the 3/8" line and used a Dorman adapter for 5/16" hardline at the return:
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/25303873660/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160307_182614434"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1675/25303873660_2378fff0ab_z.jpg" width="360" height="640" alt="IMG_20160307_182614434"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Never took pictures of the sending unit, but I was able to get a turbine-style 450 LPH pump in the tank and kept my level gauge unit, so i was pretty happy. Took alot of time with the Dremel and mig but it worked out pretty well.

Also finished the LS6 PCV swap:
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/24968956424/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160306_162620300"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1510/24968956424_b07d528602_z.jpg" width="360" height="640" alt="IMG_20160306_162620300"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Also ended up buying new P/S lines since I had poor wrench clearance to keep the F-body style inverted flare fittings:
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/25303838280/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160305_182307319"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1614/25303838280_76e53c0b52_z.jpg" width="640" height="360" alt="IMG_20160305_182307319"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Plan is to get out to Carolina Driveline a week from today. Need to plumb my transmission cooler with some compression fittings of the stock hardlines, and figure out an option for the drivers side coil pack so it will clear the brake booster, and then FirstStart2016

Well got a lot done over the weekend, but unfortunately I've got to leave town next week. Folks are putting the dog down and I'd like to be there.

Delays me a week or two, but no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Volvo did me a favor and included this reverse-operation brake pedal switch holder. Its on the other side of the pedal pivot from the stock unit, so offers reverse-function i.e. depressing pedal RELEASES plunger. Super trick A+++OEM:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/25439710330/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160312_145924006"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1489/25439710330_b8351cd132_z.jpg" width="640" height="360" alt="IMG_20160312_145924006"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Then I wired it into a 3-position Weatherpack so I could make a little sub harness for power and tach and TCC signal. Forgot about MIL until just now, so it'll probably become a 4-position (square):

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/25740446335/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160312_154219350"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1720/25740446335_c8b2dd3d0f_z.jpg" width="360" height="640" alt="IMG_20160312_154219350"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Yes, I realize I stuck the pins into the wrong end when I took this photo haha:

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/138745503@N07/25439711320/in/album-72157664322967899/" title="IMG_20160312_154349228"><img src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1707/25439711320_6d373c7eca_z.jpg" width="360" height="640" alt="IMG_20160312_154349228"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Also changed my transmission cooler setup with shorter lines since I'm keeping GM hard lines past the crank pulley:

Not much else I took pictures of. Had to use a Lokar dipstick, I hate the thing and its too long, but the 24" was way too short, but the F-body wasn't going in no matter what I did.

Oh and I didn't install my Lokar throttle cable (went with their nylon OEM-style cable, I hate braided) because it hasn't shown up in a week, but it should fit nicely.

And got my coil brackets to fit with no mods, I just have to install the rear-most drivers side coil AFTER the bracket is on the valve cover so it can dip below the booster. It'll probably break the connector or wiring if it turns out this engine moves a lot, but I'll deal with that if it happens.

But aside from A/C, which is a 'very last step' thing, I'm all done. Need a driveshaft, and April 2nd getting a mobile welder out to my shop to join the cast steel manifolds to my front exhaust and TIG some connections on the shift linkage. Basically using the AW71 arm on the 4L60E with a lengthened Volvo arm. Clears the trans and tunnel in all positions and the throw from each rocker position seems to be the same so it should work, just won't be able to manually shift into 1st gear but whatever, I get to keep a stock interior.

Oh

You have a car lift in your home garage? So jealous...

Dropped off my driveshaft today. They looked at it, gave them my measurements, and then they asked about using a 1 piece shaft. I told them no, that wouldn't work. No room.

So then they cut a 3" O.D. cardboard tube and gave it to me to test fit.

So then I pretended to drive home and pretended to 'fit' it on the car, and then called back to say it would not fit.

I had heard great things about this shop, a little disappointed in the direction this seems to be going. Hopefully they can get it together.

I'm just trying to do what this guy did:

Ha yeah, because of the lot the garage ceiling is well over 14 ft tall, so I figured why not. They're pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things, especially used.

Figured I'd finally update this thing. Car has been running for awhile now, trying to daily it as much as I can now. Made 327whp/345tq with the stock cam, no mods, was pretty impressed with that. 4L60E may not be long for this world however. No longer shifts into second during burnouts, but anything other than WOT is fine.

Still no traction with the open diff and 205 all seasons, 8.8 swap is on the way.

Edit: I've got more recent pics, its a way cleaner swap than it originally ways. I'll upload them once I can hack back into my imgur account...
Edit 2: LOL it was flickr. Here we go:

Saw a 'rari at Stowe when I went skiing a few weeks back:

Here is the finished bay. Probably going to pull the drivetrain in the next few weeks, the 4L60E in it is not in the best of shape. I'd like to clean up the back half of the bay and get it painted as well, maybe look into how much clearance I have in the tunnel for a 4L80E:

On the dyno at Hawks 3rd Gen, made 327whp/345wtq on a 100% stock motor:

This sweet camper special has an LSA and 6L80E in it on air ride. In the background you can see the 5-story pallet racking they have full of Gen 3, 4, and 5 motors, tons of rear ends, transmissions, etc. Absolutely insane place with a lot of cool stuff. Probably 100 sets of gold centered GTA mesh wheels too LOL:

The radiator/condenser/trans cooler core were moved forward about 4.5", new crossmember was built:

New core mounts:

Didn't feel like dropping cash on the Hooker swap headers, since they didn't fit for a few cases I saw on here, and I'm planning on FI anyway. So exhaust got run out the bottom of the car, using the new crossmember as a mounting point

2.25" off vbands at the flipped truck manifolds, into a 3" exhaust using the smallest muffler I could find. Clears the tire no problem, wideband readings are a bit iffy since there is so little exhaust between the merge and the outlet. I'd like to mount my turbo on the drivers side and run the downpipe across the bay to quiet things down. Its kinda obnoxiously loud now.

I'm gonna try to take some pictures of the trans tunnel and driveshaft at some point. Never took any of the wiring.
