• Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform!

Just another fake race car? garage queen.

borgs are good. what are you gonna do with the old turbo? shoot me an email.. lol

I'm probably going to ride the garret until the bearings fall off... lol but if you think it's not going to achieve my goal or help me on my way kenny..... I'm down to unload it and get something new.

Ok... bottom end is all assembled.... as i wait for the shelter in place order to ease up (i need some help removing and installing the new motor) I thought i would mount the header in the engine bay and see what i needed to do to complete the installation. seems like it's going to be very difficult to get a 3" downpipe made.... kinda hoping someone has one they will sell or maybe there is someone with a jig that can make me one without my car? any help.. any ideas? :)

I'd say but some 3 inch pipe and mock something up, mark it and get it welded.
Then test fit it figure out they did it wrong and try again

It's expensive but I've used oval pipe in the past and it worked great!

Did you use oval pipe for he downpipe? I?ve thought about oval pipe for
Some of the under car stuff for clearances but my car isn?t that low. I?d love to
See pictures of an oval down pipe though if you have any laying around.

Scope CREEEP!

So what started off as just a bent rod on a project that was well sorted and running very well started a domino effect.... lol

the plan was just to build a stronger bottom end and continue my journey just enjoying what I'd build... but that soon turned into
1.) what if I make it a 2.5L (in the works)
2.) how about better exhaust... (RSI header being installed now)
3.) I wonder if my turbo is big enough! (still considering a bigger one)
4.) yoshifab order for new lifters (because it was cheap insurance) turned into i should get those new cams iv'e always wanted
and why not get a new kevlar belt and some ARP head studs too.. LOL

5.) Soooo... the newest add... MS3Pro.... I've always had small issues with the MS2 box... not having enough outputs, causing erarratic behavior at times, and not having as good of a boost control setup or having the ability to manage the methanol injection.... so out with the old and in with the new...

Finally... just venting, but what was supposed to be a simple upgrade has turned into a total project again... a car that i drove into the garage (albiet with a rod knock) is now all apart, and I'm going in lots of different directions, and just looking for some focus.

So the things that haunt me in my sleep..... am i taking on too much all at once, and will i ever get this car back together.... you know the porjects that get started here, and lots parts get purchased and dreams get made... I don't want to be just another one of the cancelled projects... It's one of the main reasons it took me 11 years to even start a project thread...

I will push on.

Push on indeed, I cancelled my first engine swap, so the second time around I pretty much locked myself in with the car to get the drive to do it.

As far as taking on too much at once, ide say now (with the stay at home orders and such) is the best time to do it. An all out 2.5 16v build would suit the car well, amazing clean car that definitely needs to get back to terrorizing the roads

Thank you for the push sir.... I will keep the torch lit. sometimes though, wonder why i take on so much all at once... and occasionally i wish someone would come and just pick up the car and put a turbo LS in it for me..

Hello friend... I'm hoping to make 500 to 600 HP with or without nitrous... I know i should have a better idea for overall HP but my focus in the long term is a 10.99 ET at the drags... I should probably weigh the car soon, and include other items like: I'm running an GM automatic transmision (700R4) with a 4000 stall converter and the rear end gear ratio is 391.

I'm still in the early stages of the new block build but I hoping to get some baseline testing in a month or so, and then lay down some projections.

I would get a Xona XR7164S or an EFR 8374. I think you will eventually want more power and those will give you some head room from your original goal. I have an EFR 7670 and wish I had a little more, and i only have a 2.3l 8v. You'll want more turbo with the stroker and 16v.

Also, I'd get a Maxxecu or an AEM infinity. While the MS3pro is sufficient to do what you want to, it's not as nice and could potentially limit you in the future. I've got the MS3pro and it's tapped, but I still want some more I/O and additional features.

I agree, if you're going to do a new ecu and harness...dump the MS products. While they work decently, there are a lot better products out there for nearly the same money.

Wow... I haven't even considered another ECU.... what are you guys using these days.

How screwed am I.... so I decided to install the deeWorks freeze plug retainers today... only I had no instructions, and didn't have the bottom-tap that came with the kit... Having only limited experience with tapping a hole, I proceeded to drill and tap as i had done before... only after about the 5th hole of 16... I suddenly drilled completely through the casting into the water jacket. Oh Sh!t. now my question is... with a hole drilled all the way into the water jacket, am I going to run into problems with water leaks or can i just add some high temp silicone and screw in the retainer screw. I'm starting to think i should just get another block. Help.

Made the same mistake on my block when drilling one of the retainer screw holes. Used some thread sealant on that screw and have had no issues/leaks.
