My Dream Project

My 240 DD has been giving me issues lately, so the 142 has stepped up and taken on commuting duties for a couple of weeks. Its pretty funny seeing my old car parked next to all the new cars in the office. The pic got shared through instagram and got 142 likes.

Man I've been ignoring this post (and unfortunately this car) for awhile now. Progress has been slow as life, and other cars, have gotten in the way. I did manage to find a set of BBS RS that were originally made for a Volvo, not refitted from a Ferrari. Last summer I drove it to a car show and the front left brake caliper seized, once it got home it just sat. It needed a bath though so I took care of that and found mold on the rear carpet. Yanked out the carpet and found some more rust. I'll pull the seats out and wire brush everything soon, then I hope to get new floors welded in this summer.

Click on the pic and you can see a video of the rust.

You can tell the PO priming the car and Maaco repainting it both did a ****ty job. I pulled the broken antenna and found the original blue paint.

I stand corrected on the color. Someone in a 140 group asked me to confirm and the car is actually 102 blue steel gray. I've been wrong for years assuming it was a more blue color, since I've never seen another car in 102.

The other day I pulled the grill to polish it up while I was bored, then decided I needed to do something about the rusty battery tray, then deal with some surface rust I saw at seams, also replace all the rubber in the cooling system, then some new fuel hoses, and the list goes on. So the front came off the car...

The rust turned out to not be as bad as I thought. Most of the red thats left is the original primer. This is just a bandaid till I can do a full respray, so I used the rust stop primer and semi gloss black.

I need to dig into reassembly and decide how I want to address the nose piece I removed. I also found some missing rubber grommets on the firewall that I need to replace. Those explain why I get so much road noise as I drive.
