Slow moving build up

Looks great, good to see you at the shop today. I'd definitely love to see another coil come off of the front, but she's really coming along...

I finally got around to putting more leds in my car. After an hour I had 5 out of 7 lights installed. I installed a high power led over the hazard light switch area, 2 leds in the heater controls, and 2 white lights over my license plate.

The center console was pretty easy to get to and much easier to put the lights in than I planned. The diffuser things that are supposed to be black on the inside are no longer black, so I'm lighting up the inside of my dash . I hope to take out the top diffuser and repaint it when it gets warmer outside. Hopefully this will light the switch area better, istead of giving it a slight blue tint.

This one is with out the stereo.

I also put two white leds over my plate, no pics though. They aren't as bright as the oem bulbs, though you can order ones that are brighter. I'm not concerned though because I think its bright enough that the cops won't give me a hard time.

The two that I didn't get installed are the speedo lights. For some reason I can't get the bulbs our of the little brown clips. So I'm on the hunt for new clips, anyone know where I can get them?

After buying parts that seem to never get put on I finally bought something that was installed right away. A local TB'er had a capacitor for sale and he helped me install it. For now the install is temporary, at least until I make a new sub box. Hopefully I can have my trunk cleaned up by the end of the summer.

The first thing I did was pull off the plastic wrap...it looks so much better now.

I even inlisted the help of my son.

OVT will be having a work day sometime next month. Hopefully I'll be able to make it and will get my alternator, efan, and exhaust installed. I hate buying parts and then having them sit in storage. I also have new gauge faces from Dave Barton on their way right now.

I already have one gauge cluster pulled apart on my dining room table, as soon as the faces get here I can pull the cluster out of my car and Frankenstein it. It should be a simple job, just switching the circuit boards and then applying the new faces.

Well I got my Dave Barton gauge faces installed. I was trying to use a circuit board from an '88 cluster with all of my '89 parts, needless to say its not possible. Maybe when the miles on the odometers match I'll just use everything from the '88.

The faces are exactly what I wanted and were very easy to install.

For some reason after I put the new gauge faces in the cluster stopped working. it took me about two weeks of working on it before it finally started working again. I still have no idea what was wrong with it, it just started working again. I still need to pull it out one more time and spin some of the led bulbs around so that they'll light up. I'm kind of afraid to pull the cluster out though, because I don't want it to stop working again.

We (ovt) had a work weekend last week. I drove the two hours to get there and arrived at 11pm-ish. We put in a turbo exhaust and most of an alternator swap before we called a night and went to bed at 5:30 am. We started working again at 10 am and finished up the alternator swap and called it a day before we could get to the efan.

The alternator I used ended up being crap, it just couldn't keep the battery charged. For the last week I've had to disconnect the negative lead on my battery every time I got out of my car. So yesterday I put the original bosch unit back it and it fixed all of my problems, except for the fact that I still want more power.

I have a set of IPD sways that are supposed to arrive tomorrow. So hopefully I can get those and my new steering wheel on next weekend. The efan is still sitting in storage though:grrr: I also got some new studdless snow tires on steel wheels and a set of Virgos too. Not sure what I'll do with the Virgos, they need to be cleaned up and one has a bend, but I think they'll get snow tires at some point.

It turned out great. I'm sure I didn't get much, if any, extra power from it. I did, however, get an almost prefect sound from it. It has a low growl to it that you can barely hear in the car, but if you're outside it sounds great.

Thanks. It is the original paint and I'm not sure of the color code. It is the dark metallic blue color that they stopped using in 1990.

Color code is easy to find, I think I wanna get mine re-sprayed in that blue, I have the original lighter blue:-(

Well the progress has all but stopped. My Dad got me a K&N air filter for my birthday, so thats in now. The only thing I'll be keeping my eyes open for is a killer deal on sport springs, otherwise all progress has stopped. I'm also looking for a steam cleaner to detail my cars with...thats right, I said cars.

The new 1971 142E is going to be taking up most of my time. I also am in the middle of some intensive training for my job and won't have time to do much work until the end of the summer, and my wife and I are looking to buy a house. Basically we have way to much other stuff going on to be able to focus on the cars:-(

I've spent any of my car time on my 142, my Dad's 144 or everyone else's cars. Today i finally devoted some time to the 240.

This is what I started with:

Then I started ripping stuff out. The PS pump came out pretty easy, but the ac had a lot more parts. When I got the condenser out I found a hole that the horn bolt fit in perfect, so I relocated my horns.

This is what it looks like right now:

You can't see it, but there's no belt wrapped around the pump right now. I ordered the one from IPD that said it was for 240's without ac, but its way too small. There was just a few drops of freon, so I'm guessing thats why the ac wasn't working. Around all the pipes in the cabin I found a thick silly puddy like substance, so I'm guess a mechanic did a lazy job of fixing a leak at some point. Tomorrow I'll get the proper belt and Ill be done with my first step in minimizing the amount of crap thats in the engine bay :D

I got a mini steam cleaner gun that's good for cleaning cars and a Kirby with shampoo attachments, and a larger steam cleaner/shampooer.
let me know when you want them cleaned ;)

I'm toying with the idea of using a pipe from a 740T as the basis for a new intake on my car. There are a couple things keeping it from being a simple bolt on project. I'll either keep what I have or mess with those issues, but the idea is that the airbox will go away and the filter will be placed in in front of the radiator.

I also installed a Nissens three row radiator and 740 coolant bottle. The windshield washer bottle is sitting on the garage floor right now while I work on an idea for a different setup for it.

The color code is 406-3, I finally went and looked a year after the request.

I failed at having a clever location for my coolant bottle. After my car ran hot all day I lifted the bottle to the height of the factory location and the bottle drained into the radiator. Luckily I just grabbed a 240t coolant bottle. So I painted the bracket and switched everything over last night.
