Hey guys. Thought I would get something started to keep track myself of whats going on. As you all know, I lost my motor on the Dyno and am doing a 2jzgte non vvti swap now. Ive got some things underway and wanted to show.

Original thread here. http://forums.turbobricks.com/showth...highlight=941g

So the plans are to freshin up the motor, do some h beam rods, forged pistons, S1 cams, springs/retainers, divided header, intake, and a new Billet 6466 ball bearing turbo (this thing is badass, spools like the 6266, but makes power like the 6766)

Using a midsump pan the engine sits in the bay perfect, and wont be any farther forward than the 16v motor was.

Im mating the engine to the T56 already in the car. And this is where the story begins.

Theres a dxf file that uses the auto bell and adapts a T56, so mocked up an adapter and ridded the tranny of the internal slave and afixed the stock type pull Toyota clutch setup.

Pan mockup

Started engine tear down

Engine blown apart

Tranny adapted

Getting the stock fork to work

And cutting a hole in the oil pan to get a pull style Wilwood slave installed.

Someone want to explain the 941g and 942j thing to me?

What's the advantage of removing the internal clutch slave designed for high torque V8's and heavier clutches?

The 941g code name came from the 940 + the 1g (first gen mitsubishe engine management)

And the 942j name came from the new 2jzgte engine going in since the 1g stuff is gone.

I dont mind the internal slave...one failed (mostly my fualt) but with a new clutch setup I was tired of special this and special that. So I opted for a complete 1jz turbo clutch setup that is designed for a pull style pressure plate....so I need the stock setup to pull on it instead of pushing on it.

Interesting, I guess that makes sense in-case you ever sell the car to someone who sends their car to mechanics..

dangit, i've got the "front" sump. What are you using for coils, and I need to find one of those power steeringfittings. Did you have to modify the pan?

I had a front sump on the JDM motor I bought, but found one on Ebay, and if you tweek the supra forums there on there for a bit cheaper Im finding. The mid sump fit is pretty close/good. It may take just a bit of shaping on the lower steel pan, but nothing major. Itll be tight against the firewall, but thats to get my shifter in a good location.

Im going to break the motor in on stock cams and stock coils. Ive been reading that that the igntion needs to be upgraded. Ill be using AEM for ecu and Ill get the 1zz coils and trigger directly off the box.

You guys are all talkin that Ill be makin the 800whp range

Nathan I was reading your old thread yesterday and here's something you said in the 2nd page:
Quote:
I picked the turbo because the boys English Racing made 453whp with one.....I know its small, but a bigger unit will bolt up in its spot.....and I would like to make a progression and not dump myself into a ton of lag.....kind of want to feel this one out. And since I have not screwed it up.....it will sell easily on the dsm boards.

This car is my daily driver that totes my family around too....so going gung hoe will be cool, but being a very quick street car is its first prioity!
And look where you are a bit over 2 years later. So yeah, we really all think you will do a 800whp 942j!

Itll be a few weeks before this really takes off. I have a couple intakes to get completed and some final bits of my old setup to tidy up and get sold.

Thanks Roger....adapter is just a steel mock up plate. Im finalizing the dxf and send it off to you.

Boost is addivitive, theres ways around lag, and Ill use em when I need to. What I have found with larger turbos, is better mileage on the freeway.

Spent about 2 hours today and got the motor/tranny combo installed. Engine placement is good, motor mounts look easy enough and the header/stock intake will work out too. Im going to run the stock intake to break the motor in then swap out to a sheetmetal.
