I made that mistake once. The exhaust leak and burning plastic smell informed me that it was a bad idea. It pays to check if the nut you grabbed from your of assorted hardware is a nylon lock nut.

I agree, the K cam is not all that wild. I ran one in my B230 for a bit. Advanced it a bit. Low end torque wasn't really a problem. It just pulled itself gently to 2k rpm and then took off.
