Default Intercooler mounting on a +T

I am about to complete my 91 240 +t project and am looking at where to mount my intercooler. I decided to go with a treadstone tr8. It’s dimensions are 7.8" X 22" X 3.5". I was just curious on other peoples experiences with mounting similar intercooler sizes and what your results were.
Thanks, everyone here has been crazy helpful getting this project going and It’s almost time to see the results of all the time work and effort. I’ve sourced 60% of my project through tb members will continue to do so as the project progresses, but this guy is brand newseph. Very nice unit, really heavy duty feeling and real pretty welds.

Hi, that's a pretty big intercooler to mount up. I've installed a similarly sized intercooler (550mm x 180mm x 65mm or around 22"x7"x2.5") directly behind the grille with great results. I did have to trim the side air guides a bit on the car to make it fit. It cools well in that spot given my pipes are cold on the intake side and plenty hot on the turbo side with my overstretched 13c at 13-14psi.

The length between the end tanks should tell you where it would approximately fit up. Make sure you get tight bends if you want to clear the backs of the headlights, I ran into those on mine. This is on a 7-series, but the spacing should be similar I suppose

Just set it on a 2x to shut off the gap at the bottom and you're golden.

I just used some threaded rubber mounts attached to the top of the radiator support, there is a bracked down low now as well, going to the standard mount for the stock IC

Thank you all for the replies. My ic will fit where the ac condenser mounts I was just wondering how much sheet metal was needed to be removed for the inlet / outlet ports on the ic to clear

I did notice that gap when I test fitted mine in my car. And then got sidetracked because I wanted to clean its inside (don't know how many years of oil, roaches, and squirrel poo is accumulated inside it) and have yet to find a radiator shop around here that is willing to clean it.

I also do wonder how well they really flow, besides being a rather drop in a 740. I did offer to have it tested in the IC testing thread (https://forums.turbobricks.com/showp...1&postcount=27) but, well, there was no interest.
