Default windshield glass 78 242

Hi all, I'm in search of windshield glass for my 78 242. I initially received some recommendations to install the later style glass, but my glass guy informed me that wouldn't fit. I challenged him on that, and he brought the glass, and it was indeed wider. Oh well.

Anybody hoarding some glass, or know of a source to purchase other than Skandix? I don't actually need the glass, just to replace the clips that hold the trim, but theres a chance it will break when removed, and I need to be prepared to replace it.

PN 1247924 or -25

Thanks!

VP sells them under the old part numbers 675831 (clear) and 678894 (tinted). The website says the clear one is in stock and the tinted one will be in the next container from Sweden but I'd call them to be sure.

When I needed a windshield for my '78, the glass guy said it was NLA. I told him to get one for a '92. He got it, it fit, it is in there now.

I am interested in what VP has, though, in clear and tinted. I am always looking for a windshield without the shade strip at the top. They are hard to find.

Yeah, the late glass will fit the early cars but it might be a little bit larger and the original trim might not fit.

Here's a pic of a customers 140 with the late 240 glass with attached trim installed.

There they are. I swore I looked before I made this post, maybe I only searched the new part numbers. Thanks! Do you have any preference between clear and tinted?

Interesting. Where you also able to re-use the original trim? I'd like to keep it on my car, if I can reasonably.

I had no interest in keeping the original trim. It would probably not be terribly difficult to remove the rubber trim from a late windshield and install the older type... I mean, if you wanted to do extra work for an inferior result.

I have a bag of salvaged plastic clips for the old trim that I would let go of, if you are short.
