Had a stab at the wiring the 84 242 turbo today,

Still more work to get that 9 pin connector sorted to the ECU and ezk but progress.

Having fun with just little jobs in the beige 242 before I get into welding the butt cheeks and trunk floor.


It's flying as a weekend/ evening car and I'm finally getting around to some of the aesthetics.



Today I rejuvenated some of the trim with some sem trim black!

Broke out the welder to get some practice before I go near the beige car!

Busy enjoying fall weather, no real project updates, my w124 steering lock decided to give up and seize so it's taking all my time

Took the opportunity of the decent weather to clean up some stone chips on the front end, most lives behind the trim but I couldn't stand the sight of it. Hood needs the same at some stage!

Also threw some fresh clips at the lower trim piece on the 242 !

I did it again

740turbo picked up from redblockjesus with a knocking engine.



A quick dab of the blowtorch on the bumpers



Reattached some trim

Sem trim black for the grille



Nice interior in it thankfully!

Next up was to clean up some rust in the roof, temp fix until I can find a roof section to let in.

Taillights were sourced here on tb and thrown on!

Quick clean and refresh on wipers



Then pull the old lump out, thankfully it was a bare enough block and just sitting on there!

After some oven cleaner and a power wash




That's all the progress in past four days, resealing and placing the engine to come !

Changed the front end seals, put on a waterpump gasket kit.

I fitted a 240 dizzy and intermediate shaft, can't be bothered with the og 740 setup.

Needing some inspiration I threw on the Tethys on one side to keep motivated.

32mm spacer in the back, 25mm up front.

Finished off the roof repairs with some polar white, hopefully it blends nicely when I polish the car. our it

More sealing of the engine, rear main and transmission pump.

Not many photos as we had to crack on but today I had a mate over and we fitted a new kickdown cable, new shifter bushings, shifter shaft seals, auto pan gasket, sump gasket and oil pump seals.

Threw some new coolant hoses on the oil exchanger and we lobbed the engine in, got it on the mounts.

She'll sit now for a while but major jobs done so I can potter away on the weekends!
