Bench Bleeding question

My 94 940 has two brake line connections underneath the MC, and two block-off plugs on the side. With my other 740 with abs, there were only the connections on the side that the brake lines went into. Obviously, I used those two when bench-bleeding that car. On this car do I use the same ones on the side, or use the two underneath that the brake lines connect to?
 
Use the ones on the side that the brake lines go to. You could use the blocked off ports if you want to as well. But no need with the ports for the brakes lines already not plugged.
 
The brake lines are not on the side, they connect otherneath. I bench bled using these ports on the side using the plastic pieces and hoses included with a bench bleed kit. Rebled all four calipers, pedal goes straight to the floor. I've bench bled this exact same way before with success. Very confused, any tips really appreciated needing this car fixed asap.

You bench bleed with the line outlets, and if you want to make sure you got all the air out of the master (like right now) you can use those bleeders.
 
Help me understand, I just did use the ports on the side so why would I want to use those again if I just used them? Shouldn't I bleed with the ports on the bottom that the brake lines connect to? Isn't that the first thing you just said? Not trying to sound pushy just a little confused exactly what you are saying.
 
What I meant with my post is that you use the brake line outlets. However, it's fine to use the bleeders on the side as well. You either didn't get all the air out or have a bad master cylinder if the pedal isn't making any pressure.
 
Could a small piece of debris in the reservoir destroy the seals right away? I snapped off the driver's side nut on the brake line when replacing brake hoses, and ran to the store to get more fluid, and a hard brake line to replace it. Came back and all fluid had leaked out of the reservoir. This is why I need to bleed the MC, it's a genuine Volvo MC and was working just fine.
 
I might try the method of blocking off all ports and pushing the pedal down until its barely moves. If it never firms up this would confirm damage to the MC?
 
I think you'll be fine if you just get a good bleed on the master cylinder and then bleed the calipers to get all the air out. If you don't bleed the calipers even with a bled master cylinder you won't get all the air out.
 
Bled through the ports the lines go to, the first couple pumps lots of bubbles, then zero bubbles. Don't have a buddy to bleed the brakes right now, but after this, the car stops. Definitely needs to be bled though. I guess this confirms MC is fine. I'm not even sure using the ports on the side did anything at all. Bled through those ports twice and bled brakes and had nothing at all. I'm pretty confident after bleeding brakes everything will be good.

Dave, I'm having the exact same problem. How did you make out? (I have installed a new MC)
