Could site automagically switch to https?

I just noticed that when I enter forums.turbobricks.com, it goes to http://forums.turbobricks.com. Would it be possible for it to redirect itself to the https version like most sites do?

I meant on Apache or nginx you usually set a redirect for the http request to https.

the redirect is set, it doesnt work all the time for whatever reason. i suspect there is some residual config that is interfering from any number of previous hosts and server setups we've been on in the last 20 years.
