Willie's '67 122 Project

thats what i was ready to do. I went over there and it wasnt apart like he said. I told him cancel the rear suspension ill just do it myself. Hes gunna install a new choke and tweak the carbs a bit so ill pick it up next week. I trust him enough to be able to get that done. fingers crossed.

A friend of mine took his car to a trusted mechanic due to running hot condition, a Chrysler convertible something, whatever. They told him it needed a water pump, big job, labor cost over $800. What they didn't know is that he had a water pump put in a few months earlier. He said don't touch it, car is under warranty. They tell him come back in 3 hours the car is apart. I drive by 5 mins. later the car is sitting in their parking lot. Took it back to the shop that did the water pump. A small hose connected to the had a pin hole in it. Repair was free! Beware!

Wow, so they lied? Thats exactly what my guy did, rear suspension is apart. when i went today my car was sitting in the back gathering dust.

Headliner

Rough work getting the stuff out. All the old amterial would just disintegrate and the car was an absolute mess by the end of it. :

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3727.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3727.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3727.jpg"/></a>

Maybe not the best stuff, but whatever:

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3735.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3735.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3735.jpg"/></a>

Replacing the headliner isnt hard, its just superrrrrrrrrrrr tedious. By the end of the night my arms were killing me.

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3747.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3747.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3747.jpg"/></a>

The headliner is from VP Autoparts, and it is perfect. However my installation isnt perfect by any stretch, but it was gratifying to do and is good enough for me, and makes a world of difference inside.

Damn son, nice work your car is really coming along keep up the good work, I am still stuck doing bodywork and seeing your progress really keeps up the spirit.

Don't get me wrong, it looks good. Also like the red seats. Just my 2 cents if you wre trying to get things a little more smooth. May just work itself out in the Ca. heat! :)

Nose Replacement

Replacing the nose proved to be a bit more challenging than i initially thought - purely due to hard-to-remove nuts and bolts. It took 2 hours to remove to simple screws behind each turn signal light.

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3798.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3798.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3798.jpg"/></a>

The original nose. You can really see the damage here. Im wondering if this car was involved in some sort of pile up, or got sandwiched.

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3804.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3804.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3804.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3808.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3808.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3808.jpg"/></a>

The new nose i had shipped in from the east coast. There is a very small dent in the middle bridge but im not worried about it right now. When the car actually gets painted ill worry about all that stuff together at once. I just scuffed it, and threw on some auto primer and krylon close enough to blend in a bit.

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3805.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3805.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3805.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3809.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3809.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3809.jpg"/></a>

Fits like a glove!

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3811.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3811.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3811.jpg"/></a>

I do NOT like how close that fog light bar sits so close to the nose. Luckily i have a whole replacement bumper without that bar that ill put on a little later. Im sure tons of a adjusting and test fitting will be required to make the new bumper sit straight with the body.

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3814.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3814.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3814.jpg"/></a>

<a href="http://s658.photobucket.com/user/wtarkington/media/IMG_3816.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i658.photobucket.com/albums/uu302/wtarkington/IMG_3816.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3816.jpg"/></a>

It could be that the bumper brackets were pushed back into the grille. See if the bumper brackets have any bends in them.

^ are you missing anything? I have a few boxes of 122 stuff that I'm slowly going through, let me know if you need anything. Later this summer I will also have a m41OD swap stuff and some trims.
